January 9, 2009.
A UN school was targeted by Israeli artillery. At least 40 people who had taken refuge in a school run by the United Nations agency for Palestine refugees (UNRWA) died in an Israeli attack.
The death toll rose rapidly as rescue teams began carrying out recovery operations among the building’s rubble.
Hours earlier, two other people died when Israeli artillery struck another school in the city of Khan Younis (south of the Strip).
And three more people died in another airstrike against a school in the Shati refugee camp, in Gaza City, according to medical sources.
These actions took place after a night of violent clashes in several neighborhoods of Gaza City (Tuffah, Zeitoun, and Shujaiya), which continued Tuesday morning in those sectors and in other urban areas of Jabaliya, Beit Lahia (north of the Strip), Bureij, Deir al-Balah (center), and Khan Younis (south).
‘The (Israeli) army cut the Gaza Strip in two and surrounded Gaza City,’ acknowledged Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak.
‘We launched this operation to strike Hamas hard, change living conditions in southern Israel, bring calm and security to citizens, and stop the smuggling of weapons into the Gaza Strip,’ Barak added, listing the objectives of the Israeli offensive launched on December 27.
Since that date, the offensive by the Israeli state—whose declared objective is to stop Palestinian rocket fire into southern Israel—has caused at least 635 Palestinian deaths (159 of them children) and more than 2,900 wounded.
So here we have the Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir overseeing the brutal treatment of the Global Sumud Flotilla's activists who were arrested by Israel from international waters.
Look how he is smiling.......
Israeli police say a 36-year-old Jewish man has been arrested over this assault on a French nun in occupied East Jerusalem.
Video shows her being shoved to the ground and kicked, renewing concern over violence against Israel’s religious minorities.
Israel continues to destroy civilian infrastructure as shown in this video, which captures the Israeli army destroying solar panels in southern Lebanon.
Amnesty International has previously documented extensive destruction by the Israeli military along Lebanon’s border before and after the November 2024 ceasefire. We called for reparations and the investigation into this for war crimes. So far, neither has appeared.
Since the more recent 2026 “ceasefire”, civilians in southern Lebanon’s border villages, many of whom are displaced, are continuing to witness their homes, land and infrastructure destroyed.
Israel must stop the unlawful destruction of civilian property across southern Lebanon.
HAPPENING NOW — ALL ACROSS IRAN:
Millions of Iranians are pouring into the streets of their cities to oppose violent Mossad-CIA-backed rioters and reject US-Israeli aggression.
Ask yourself why this isn’t headline news everywhere.
Breaking: The so called ceasefire has ended by Israel.
A Palestinian father mourns his son at Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis, killed in a new Israeli strike just days after the Gaza ceasefire.
A tracking chip was found inside the shirt of one of the citizens in the Mawasi area of Khan Younis.
What’s striking is that the chip was disguised as a normal clothing tag, showing details such as the cotton percentage and other information — as seen in the picture.
‼️ #KhanYounis;
Israeli apartheid regime bombed at least 20 times the city of Khan Younis in Southern #Gaza today. There is no "Ceasefire agreement", Israel is a genocidal machine thirsty of blood and human flesh, as well as lands and resources!
#Palestine
The cries of children fill the halls of Nasser Medical Complex after the arrival of one martyr and nine injuries following the targeting of a tent in the Asdaa area, north of Khan Younis.
