New digital accessibility guidelines have been published today.
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.2 adds 9 new requirements with the aim of improving accessibility for people with visual, physical, and cognitive disabilities.
How wide is the #accessibility skills gap? @TeachAccess’s 2022 Accessibility Skills Gap Survey examines demand for accessibility skills and supply of accessibility-skilled people to fill those roles. Please share your insights and look out for results! https://t.co/fPz0sSL4af

Day 172. It is not just about applying accessibility APIs, but about caring, and thinking of features that can make your app more accessible and inclusive to everyone. Twitter's alt-text feature is a great example. Thanks, @TwitterA11y! You'll be missed. #365DaysIOSAccessibility
Pro tip: if you're using ARIA for custom radios/checkboxes, you need to use ARIA for the group label — fieldset/legend won't work. #webdev#a11y#aria#forms#tips
For accessible Mastodon apps, the following were recommended to me: on web, Pinafore; on iOS, Toot! & Metatext; on Android, Tusky; on desktop: Pinafore & Tweesecake. #Mastodon#a11y
PSA! Make sure your actionable items in your mobile app have a proper trait or role. Starting to see #iOS and #Android apps where non native elements are used to create buttons or links. If I’m using assistive technology, I have no clue it has an action. #A11y#Accessibility
It costs £581 a month more to be disabled in the U.K. (@scope) and it can sometimes be difficult for non disableds to wrap their head around that… so here are some examples last month of the #DisabilityTax I’ve had. #NEISvoid#DisabilityTwitter
“There is a myth that non-disabled people are independent and disabled people are dependent. We are all interdependent. Many of you like drinking coffee, very few of you grow your own beans” … from a great opening keynote at #assets2022 by @HabenGirma
Are there any #accessibility people here who are 'lone rangers' (i.e. the only dedicated accessibility employee) in their organisation, and not part of an already established a11y group or internal team? I'd love to chat.
Please make this accessible to disabled folks! The image needs alt text. If it's a document you need PDF remediation or at the very least a plain text version available of all the locations etc. #ACCESSIBILITY
