Today, I joined @A2Cynth and @SummerBerman on the Detroit Today on @wdet to talk about our community crisis response fund legislation! It's clear we need to change the way we respond to mental health crises. Our bills help do that.

Tamir Rice was 12 when he was killed.
Trayvon Martin was 17 when he was killed.
They didn’t kill anyone.
But Kyle Rittenhouse, who broke the law, crossed state lines, and killed two people, is the one we’re supposed to believe is the victim.

I thought of this song and @A2Cynth as she prepared to see her son tonight. Months of community organizing and steady care followed Cynthia and Anthony’s decades long struggle with multiple systems. Our community needs to do more. Treat, don’t incarcerate. https://t.co/541rZWoFTY
There were 2 hearings today that revealed 2 Ann Arbors. In one, 100+ Black and social justice advocates rallied for Anthony Hamilton’s case (now adjourned until the 18th). In the other, a hearing with City Council creatively arguing for context and use of a racial slur.
We're launching a project centering race equity and lived experience in mental health crisis response. Join @FountainHouse’s CEO @ashvasnyc and leaders like @OsopePatrisse & @cynrod for an important conversation about it. #FromHarmtoHealth https://t.co/gygAxksues

The President’s suggestion of delaying the election on the day we lay John Lewis to rest is the most despicable affront to his memory & legacy.
Americans will rise up & continue John's fight for unfettered access to the ballot box.
Our voices will not be silenced.
Roger Stone. Found guilty by a jury on 7 federal criminal counts. No jail time.
Kalief Browder. Accused of stealing a backpack. Couldn’t post bail. Spent 3 years at Riker’s awaiting trial. Ultimately committed suicide after released.
We have two justice systems in our country.
