Three clinicians with exceptional promise and novel approaches to fighting cancer have been named the 2025 recipients of the Damon Runyon Physician-Scientist Training Award.
I'm excited for the work this generous award will support at the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center over the next year, to advance our understanding of acute myeloid leukemia.

“Boxed In” by Derrick Darby and Eduardo J. Martinez challenges existing accounts of identity as overly static, calling attention to the complexity and dynamics of identity.

In our polarized world, it is important to recognize how inflexible identities get in the way of our ability to form coalitions, and work together to achieve common goals. For a fresh take on identity politics, you should read my husband Eduardo’s new book, “Boxed In” 1/3
This book is the culmination of years of work to understand how our identities both unite and constrain us, and how we can coordinate across divisions to address the biggest challenges facing humanity today – distilled into an accessible, impactful and thought-provoking read. 2/3
@KottonNelson Thank you, Camille! I learned so much from working with you and the transplant ID team, and will miss you all very much - hoping our paths cross again in future!
I will miss the community @MGHMedicine, and I am forever grateful for the past three years of training. Excited to continue along the path to becoming a hematologist/oncologist, starting fellowship at @Cincyhemonc, today!
Published in NEJM on my last day as a resident at @mghmedres - Congratulations to @DrZackDeFilipp, and thank you for inviting me to play a small part in presenting this fascinating case, sharing the story of a patient we cared for together in clinic.
A 25-year-old man with a history of leukemia and hematopoietic-cell transplantation was evaluated for vision changes. MRI revealed white-matter lesions; PET-CT showed FDG-avid lymphadenopathy. https://t.co/sJ2k9cRVtK
A fitting conclusion, as the longitudinal #BMT clinic @MGHCancerCenter was one of the highlights of my residency training, and the @NEJMCPC were my favorite educational conferences - watching in awe as expert clinicians talk through their clinical reasoning.
Inspired by the work presented at the #ASH21 Plenary Session! Beautiful work presented by @AlbaRMeira highlighting role of inflammation in driving transformation to sAML in TP53-mutated MPNs. Congrats to all the presenters!
Joining twitter in time for #ASH21! My first meeting was #ASH15, when I attended as a med student from the #CathyWu lab, supported by ASH HONORS Award. Grateful to @ASH_hematology for introducing me to such a vibrant community that has inspired the course of my training since!
We’re looking forward to welcoming you to #ASH21! What year was your first annual meeting? RehASH the fun with some #ThrowbackThursday photos ⏳
(& make sure to include #ASH21 in your own #TBT!)
