ASEAN LADIES CIRCLE DONATES RM 5,000 TO RAUDHATUS SAKINAH

Selangor, 21 June 2025 – The ASEAN Ladies Circle (ALC), led by ALC Philippines Alternate Patron Mary Michelle Reyes, donated RM 5,000 to Raudhatus Sakinah, a registered non-governmental organization under the National Council of Welfare and Social Development Malaysia (NCSWM), which provides rehabilitation and education programs for young women.

Alternate Patron Reyes was joined by Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin, Alternate Patron of ALC Malaysia, Mrs. Vachiraporn Pikulthong, Alternate Patron of ALC Thailand, and other members of ALC.
Also present at the event were Raudhatus Sakinah CEO Rosmawati Zainal, Chairperson Prof. Dr. Najibah Mohd Zin, and the institution’s wardens.

The program featured a short briefing on the organization’s work by Prof. Dr. Najibah, remarks by Alternate Patron Reyes on behalf of ALC President and Patron of ALC Philippines, H.E. Maria Angela A. Ponce, a cheque presentation, and a tour of Raudhatus Sakinah’s in-house bakery, where the young women showcased and sold bread, cakes, and cookies they had produced as part of their training.

In her remarks, Alternate Patron Reyes emphasized that through initiatives such as this visit, the ALC reaffirms its shared commitment to supporting the advancement of women and children across the ASEAN region.

She added that the initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 3, which promotes healthy lives and well-being for all at all ages, and SDG 5, which advocates for gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls.

She also mentioned that the visit also “echoes the spirit of the Kuala Lumpur Declaration on ASEAN 2045, adopted during the ASEAN Summit in May 2025, which envisions a people-oriented and people-centered ASEAN that promotes inclusive development, upholds human rights, and empowers all sectors of society, especially women and youth”.

Alternate Patron Reyes also expressed her appreciation to Alternate Patron Datin Paduka Anizan Siti Hajjar Adnin of ALC Malaysia for organizing the visit and for continuously upholding meaningful causes throughout Malaysia. -END
