Statement issued by the Alliance for Survival on the @_AfricanUnion’s Press Release
The Alliance for Survival has read the African Union’s recent press release with deep concern. By portraying the formation of the Ethiopian Peoples’ Forces Alliance for Survival as a threat to peace and stability, the AU overlooks the profound crisis facing Ethiopia and the reasons the Alliance was formed.
Across the country, armed conflict, displacement, economic hardship, and political exclusion have inflicted immense suffering. The conflicts in Amhara, Oromia, Tigray, and other parts of Ethiopia cannot be viewed in isolation. Together, they reflect a national crisis that threatens the lives of civilians, the integrity of state institutions, and Ethiopia’s future. We are concerned that the AU has not responded to this crisis with the urgency and sustained engagement it requires.
The Alliance for Survival seeks to bring together Ethiopians committed to ending violence and preventing further national fragmentation. Its objectives include establishing an inclusive transitional government, facilitating a participatory national and constitutional dialogue, protecting civilians, and creating the conditions for a credible and sustainable political settlement. We believe that a lasting path to peace must meaningfully address the grievances, concerns, and aspirations of communities across Ethiopia.
We respectfully urge the African Union to reconsider its characterization of the Alliance and engage with its stated objectives. The AU should use its influence to help end attacks on civilians, support humanitarian access, and advance an inclusive, nationally owned process for resolving Ethiopia’s conflicts. Ethiopia’s people need a response equal to the scale and urgency of the crisis they face.
The inspiring struggle and dedication of @AFNM_FA Head, Arbegna Buruk Seleshi, has been featured in a special presentation by the Amhara Capacity Building Institute.

@dawit_giorgis Fano and TPLF are the only armed forces fighting the regime. Refusing to coordinate just helps Abiy Ahmed divide and conquer. Survival and defeating the central threat must come first.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude for your attention to the ongoing massacres and grave human rights violations committed against the Amhara people and followers of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
@LebeBeteseb If you're confused by basic organizational terms, just say that. The work on the ground speaks for itself, whether you understand it or not. Keep crying, we the Amharas are rising from within. 🤫
The Golden Age of Amhara is coming!
To reverse decades of existential threats, Fano is achieving historic victories. To reinforce this struggle with training, resources & institutional backing, the Amhara Capacity Building Institute is officially established! Rising from Within
Right now, Dera Shewa Amhara civilians are facing severe human rights violations, targeted ethnic violence, brutal killing and forced displacement in #Ethiopia. Yet, there is a deafening silence from the world. Amhara lives matter. #AmharaGenocide@AmnestyEARO@hrw@UNHumanRights
Commando Samuel Baledil's relatives have been unlawfully abducted, including two young children aged 3 and 6 by the Ethiopian gov't. Targeting innocent family members as leverage is a clear war crime. Collective punishment & hostage-taking violate the Geneva Conventions.
A regime that uses military violence against its own people has no political legitimacy. You cannot speak of democratic elections while actively orchestrating a humanitarian crisis against the innocent Amhara civilians.
#NoBallotsWhileBulletsFly#AmharaGenocide
A political ballot cannot wash away a regime's crimes. Abiy Ahmed and his accomplices must face justice, not political validation, for the millions of Amhara lives shattered by the state-sponsored Amhara genocide. #NoBallotsWhileBulletsFly#AmharaGenocide
Holding a sham election while deploying drone warfare against your own people is a crisis of legitimacy. Abiy Ahmed and his regime must be held responsible for the millions of Amhara lives hanging in the balance. #NoBallotsWhileBulletsFly#AmharaGenocide
