I cannot get over what Britain asked of RAF radar expert Jack Nissenthall at Dieppe on this day in 1942: go ashore—and accept that his Canadian escort had orders to kill him if capture seemed certain.

He volunteered anyway. When German fire kept him out of the radar station, he cut its phone lines, forcing its crew onto radio that British listeners could monitor.

I am in awe of that nerve (and of the Canadians beside him). Nissenthall came home but received no gallantry medal. On Dieppe’s 84th anniversary, his name deserves to be known.

No other group of people on Earth would allow their forebears to be insulted like this.

My ancestors were great people. Without them, the world would be an immeasurably darker, more wicked place.

Britain, and Western civilisation, are the greatest expressions of human flourishing in the history of the world.

Be proud of the ancestors who fought and toiled and sacrificed for that.

🚨 Rachel Reeves’ “no new taxes” pledge was total, bare-faced bullshit.

From April 2027 she’s hammering
ordinary Brits with a 22% tax on cash interest sitting inside Stocks & Shares ISAs — the one place millions of cautious savers and pensioners thought their money would stay safe.

First she slashed the cash ISA limit. Then she “closed the loophole” by coming straight for whatever cash people left in the stocks version.

This isn’t fixing anything. It’s a deliberate, sneaky raid on people who don’t want to gamble their life savings on the stock market just to keep what they’ve earned.

So much for “no new taxes,” Chancellor. You lied. Again.

Savers smoked. Pensioners smoked. Gilt holders smoked.

The pound will lose another generation of purchasing power in months, not years.

Whilst some pensioners may be affluent, that’s not the majority and it never was. Many end their years with nothing but the memories that surround them, that’s if they don’t go in to a home, to rot away their last years, with their family home sold to pay for it.

If they do live in the home they’ve spent a 3rd of their life getting to, people say downsize, to what? A first time buyer house, a new build? With zero friends, zero memories around them, a bland end to life?

These are not just objects to blame, these are our mothers and fathers, grandmothers and fathers. Those who rebuilt a world ravaged post war, who went without, so we never had to, who in later life once we left home finally had a chance to relax and have some pleasures themselves. How did we end up in a world of zero respect, that dehumanise those who gave us the very lives we live?

Nobody holding a pound is your enemy.

Whether you have a tenner in your pocket or a million in your account, you hold the same broken currency.

The pound has lost 69% of its purchasing power since 2000.

That tenner buys less. That million buys less.

The man next door did not print £895 billion during covid.

The man next door did not freeze your tax thresholds.

The man next door did not sell your gilts for a 76% loss and tax you more to cover it.

The men who did are on television telling you to have broader shoulders and extracting your wealth to plug the gaps they created.

We are being divided so we do not unite against the people who actually robbed us.
