@DavidPawlan Yep. I believe it's just hype.
it's superior in its familiarity and fast onboarding, but other than that, the capabilities and ux are extremely limited
@willchen500 Computer-use is not meant for such use cases. this should be done via an api or some other protocol.
All the hype with computer-use is a temporary thing, and misallocation of resources imo.
@jayhp@akshatag77 Everything can be done through a basic interface - I can call a taxi, a travel agent, the bank, etc. Yet we still have apps for those things.
Text is a modality ahead of calling, but still behind GUI.
It's easier to think of, and build a text based AI, but I don't see it staying
@akshatag77 I'm very bullish on personal agents; I just think a text-based one isn't going to be it. The ultimate one will need to connect with different products and services and be able to generate and display interfaces that users can interact with...
@akshatag77 Wouldn’t it be nice to see a live UI showing when your Uber is arriving?
Or to pick a seat for your flight without saying “Get me an aisle seat in row 30, if it’s available,” and without using the United app?
And to have a checklist of things to pack without another todo app?
@akshatag77 True, i don't mean complicated tho,
I can't think of an interface that people spend a lot of time using that isn't very visual or interactive, neither of which is really possible in iMessage..
I may be very wrong, but I believe the ultimate personal assistant will never be in iMessage.
The pros are familiarity and instant onboarding,
but other than that... How? the interface is so limited.
Likely just a trend
