We recently hosted a spring field walk across our Biological Showcase site, designed to evaluate emerging biological crop growth enhancers.
Thanks to Nutrien Agronomist and Product Reps for attending.
@COGGO_WA
We have been busy in the field throughout winter, so it has been nice to get some sunshine to present trial results at spring field walks across the wheatbelt 🌾

Liebe Group Post-Seeding Field Walk – Maya, WA 🌾
GrainGrowers recently attended the Liebe Group’s Post-Seeding Field Walk, where members came together to explore early-stage trials, share insights, and shape future research and development priorities.
Key conversations included:
💬 Dry seeding & canola establishment: With a tough dry start to the season, growers discussed the risks of different planting depths (1cm, 3cm, 6cm) and the challenges of soft soils losing moisture. Long coleoptile wheat trials sparked interest in varietal performance under depth stress, and options for late sowing; especially with canola, were explored.
💬 Fertiliser placement & crop nutrition: Trial results showed better outcomes when fertiliser was placed above the seed at depth, challenging current machinery setups. Growers also discussed furrow collapse, seed depth variability, and tolerance to cereal post-emergent scorch.
💬 Herbicide damage & chemical access: Paraquat and glyphosate access emerged as a major concern. Growers shared strategies for managing resistance, especially in radish and broadleaf weeds. Scorch trials offered guidance, but cost at scale remains a barrier.
🌅 The day wrapped up with a sundowner: BBQ, and plenty of ideas for future trials to support farming businesses.

@SLR_Agriculture, presented our finding on the #longcoleoptilewheats look specifically at fertiliser placement when deep sowing this year, as well as highlights across all trials. Thanks to the @LiebeGroup for a great day at their Post Seeding Field Walk at their Main Trial Site
Sun setting on the fifth deep sowing trial in Corrigin for #longcoleoptilewheat and an @InterGrain1 POP oat trial. Dry sown 30mm & into plenty of moisture 100mm below the furrow
@caitlinmlangley Q1: is that just A1 yellow poster paper or some sort of sticky paper?
Q2: what is the measurement you use when counting them? Compared to a sweep net of 10-20 sweeps??
Week 4 measurements of our oats biomass trial. Different Nitrogen treatments becoming obvious within the plots. Potential potassium deficiency is still evident. Still monitoring for pests and disease. @JoelTheGinger@DarcyCobley@AHagboom@AJenko12@Bec_Swift_@SJB_Ag
Week 3 measurements of our oats biomass experiment for our ADV Cropping unit. Starting to see disease and potential potassium deficiency in some areas of the plots. Otherwise, coming along nicely! @SJB_Ag@Bec_Swift_@AHagboom@JoelTheGinger@DarcyCobley@AJenko12
Week 2 measurements of our oats biomass experiment for our ADV Cropping unit. Spread our first nitrogen application, 80 units on treatment 1 and 50 units on treatment 2 (split application). Plants at GS21-26. @JoelTheGinger@DarcyCobley@AJenko12@AHagboom@SJB_Ag@Bec_Swift_
