Educator Inquiry staff session - today we reconnected with the Art of Inquiry by @kjinquiry to reflect on and collaborate with our colleagues. Dedicating time for personal professional inquiry is an important part of our culture at Bonython Primary.
We were honoured to host Your Excellency Governor General Ms Sam Mostyn at Bonython Primary today. This was her first official engagement in a school.
The Governor General was hosted by our House Captains who led a school tour. We finished our time a Q&A session in the hall.
Taking action- today our year 1/2 students hosted their families and friends at their very own art gallery. They have been inquiring into what makes art and have been finding out through a connection with our local gallery and case studies. @kjinquiry thanks for your guidance!
What’s your Rose, Thorn and Bud for term 2? Today we reflected on the term’s positives and challenges, and considered a next step. Posting the reflections provides public affirmation and a commitment strategy for the term ahead.
What is art and why do we do it? As researchers we visited the local art gallery to reflect on the exhibitions and notice how galleries present art. We will take action with what we have learned back at school when creating our own gallery! @kjinquiry one we planned together

@kjinquiry The discussions were very rich, one student said about Lego ‘I can see that it’s like a sculpture but we need more information. Like maybe if we had some writing to go with it’ 👏👏 Also some discussions about ‘does art need to be pretty’.
IS IT ART? Our year 1/2s have visited a special gallery with a range of pieces. They were asked to think about and discuss if the piece was art or not. We are investigating-what is art and why do people do it? Tuning in and sharing our first theories is a part of our process.
