@SustainableSong @LauraMiers It is false to say that there is “no evidence of declining virulence” in respiratory viruses. There has certainly been decreased virulence in the evolution of past COVID viruses and many other examples. But yes exceptions exist. And admittedly the ecology of COVID is unique. 🫰

@danaparish I have to say these kind of sweeping anecdotal statements have the potential of fueling hysteria and misinformation which is not particularly helpful (some of which is evident in some of the comments though its not always clear who is being serious and who is tongue in cheek).

@DrJohnHhess Of course with infection rates as high as they are, you see a whole lot of post COVID patients for an infinite number of things, most of which are probably only incidentally related to COVID history.

@Bob_Wachter If the main problem was vaccine production I would agree with you. But that doesn’t seem to be the case. While it may be heretical to say I wonder if the complexities of prioritization are gumming things up. The critical goal is to get shots into any and all arms.

The spin is that Trump did the right thing in deceiving us about Covid to not cause panic. Kind of like if your house is on fire and your family wakes up with smoke coming into their rooms. Being a great leader and to avoid panic, you say, everything is fine, go back to sleep.
