There you have targeted ethnic violence which is tolerated by the Israeli authorities, who usually refuse to intervene in the attacks or to prosecute offenders afterwards.

@questionsin2014 @marcatracy Personally, what I think it really comes down to is the relation of the victims to state power. In the historical pogroms, authorities were complicit with the attacks, either turning a blind eye to them or participating. The Amsterdam police protected the Israelis.
