@NVIDIAGeForce GeForce Season
My 5090 is being used for comparative benchmarks for the PCVR community at large.. so I don't actually get to use it for my own gaming sessions. Also, my Arc Raiders Expedition Project is fully completed and I'm stacked with loot for departure on the 21st!
@Heaney555 Yup, definitely poor word choice there on my part as I was multitasking while testing their site in chunks.
They couldn't possibly make new stock appear out of thin air that quickly lol - but happy to see a ramp up batch now as a result of community feedback.
@DigestAndroid What does "REAL AI" mean - there is no dedicated AI chip or anything. Also there's definitely not going to be identical day-to-day performance.. especially for multimodal media AI actions.
I'm an Android lover too, but this feels like insane cope.
@eminus@SadlyItsBradley Buy this used, too!
If you wait out the 15-day return period, they will start popping up on used marketplaces. A lot of people impulse buy these things to try them out, realizing it will never be worn.
I got my M2 AVP for $800 off MSRP by just waiting a month after release.
Pretty disappointing, considering just how fast they went. It's almost like they did 0 market research.
The checkout process on the Samsung website was an adventure on its own - laggy front-end, inability to get a card added, duplicative "undefined" errors.
Money has been debited on my card, but I never actually made it to an order confirmation page / have no order confirmation e-mail. Only error screens.
This is as of just a few moments before posting this reply.
All-in-all, the lead-up experience has me worried about the research/testing/execution of the device itself.
@MuchAdoAbtNthng@thedowd This was nowhere on his YouTube - which is where the videos get discovered and the most views.
He recently added it after getting called out for this sketchy behavior.
It is 100% a moral issue.
@jasteinerman I'm not buying it.
I mean, I'm buying the glasses, but not the justification for the demos - especially given you're going to sell online anyways.
If true, I wonder if it's a strategy play -
1) The R&D on miniaturization of chips / other components / glasses would presumably help set the groundwork for better decisions for a better Apple Vision "Air" - especially when coming to fit, design, and weight reduction.
2) Currently AndroidXR is scalable up to VR-sized UI/UX and compute, and down to the minimalist smart glasses . I'm assuming VisionOS needs to be rebuilt to account for this flexibility - and quickly to not lose grip of market share against both Meta + Google. Apple users would probably get curious and start sleeping around if they didn't know "Apple Glass" or whatever was coming soon.
3) With the release of the AVP 2, Apple has addressed the immediate needs of what users wanted.. and have over 1.5 years of real-world data from the AVP's use. They could've concluded from the data that the weight + social isolation + lack of killer app leads the market for mainstream needs to be addressed first, resulting in this pivot to gather more data on what users are looking for.
I don't think I'd risk building them in tandem, either - it makes more sense to get the foundational data and scalable OS set first.
@saradietschy Congrats! I feel like that's a major milestone in life, and one I look forward to stamping my flag on in the future lol🤞
I hope you can find a moment to really bask in it.
