Sure would be cool is the Diocese of Providence would try this out. But they won’t. People are hungry for reverent liturgy and very few clergy seem to care. Sad.
The Diocese of Wichita is doing something right.
They have a 195% priest replacement rate (meaning the diocese has nearly double the number of seminarians needed to replace retiring or deceased priests).
The vast majority of seminarians come from homeschool or parochial schools. The diocesan Catholic schools are authentically Catholic.
Adoration chapels across the entire diocese. Praying for vocations is part of every parish’s culture.
Weekly Mass attendance is through the roof. Liturgies are reverent and embrace tradition.
If I’m a Catholic bishop, I’m looking at this diocese and taking notes. The blueprint for Catholic renewal in the USA is in Kansas.
@shagbark_hick@OldHollowTree I would say that also the divide is less a problem in Vermont because Vermonters and transplants to Vermont are far more politically aligned. You don’t generally move to Vermont unless you are on the left, and the locals are largely on the left.
@JessicaforRI@mrdaviddelacruz I think Smiley is stuck between a rock and a hard place. While we agree on little, I think he wants to be a moderate. But his opponent can beat him because Providence is in large part full on leftist, so he has to lean left when threatened. I wish I had more hope for PVD.
@RorateCaeli My home state. I’ve tried to convince people of the same thing on X. Some beautiful little churches and villages ripe for the taking with a little forethought. I miss Vermont constantly.
@fsspna I moved from NYC to Providence RI, in part because I knew of the FSSP Parish in that city. For a year, Father Berg was the pastor at this parish. His calm and fatherly spiritual guidance helped be greatly, as I was recently reverted to the faith. God bless you all and Fr Berg.
For nearly a quarter of a century, Rhode Island has been run by the same party Democrats in total control of the governor’s office, Senate, and House.
And what do we have to show for it? Taxes and the cost of living that keep skyrocketing, while wages for working families barely budge.
If you’re tired of getting price‑gouged… if you’re feeling like you can’t afford to live here anymore… if you’re sick of all the taxes, all the fees, and can’t even afford your energy bills…
Remember all of that when you go to the polls this year.
Homeowners, renters, small businesses, and retirees are all feeling the squeeze. It’s time we had leaders who actually fight for the middle class, not just more taxes and more spending.
Change is possible but first, we have to admit the status quo isn’t working.

Never fails to amaze how society will for decades mock the Catholic Church's ethics as outdated, immoral, chauvinist, etc.
Yet after the world catches up, it not only fails to acknowledge we were correct, they were wrong, they will often claim we were the ones who flip flopped
@CaseyBHead Why do people spend time on X criticizing others? Don’t like what he’s posting? Don’t follow him. Seems like a good dude and he’s got some interesting content. Let him be bro.
@shagbark_hick I used to take cape air from Boston to Rutland. Even got to take a flight in the cockpit next to the pilot. Those planes are a ton of fun to fly in!
@shagbark_hick Man I spent about 5 months in White River Junction, trashy townies galore. Ronnie was the cook at the bar, also the weed dealer in town, like to connect a car hood to a snowmobile and go woodchuck waterskiing. Good dude. White trash never bothered me, they were mostly just fun
@SCweather_wx I grew up in Vermont. I 100% tool for granted that I was surrounded by natural beauty most of the time. I get it, now that I don’t live there.
