Very excited to share our recent @NGMJournal publication on distinguishing the contributions of neuronal vs mucosal serotonin in the regulation of colonic motility 🥳https://t.co/jV0pblWFGF
Using the SSRI, fluoxetine, to increase serotonin signalling to neuronal receptors, we show that #serotonin within EC cells in the #gut lining is the major contributor to regulating colonic contractions, with no demonstrated role for neuronal serotonin.
