Thrilled and honoured to see a positive review by Tim Cook in the American Historical Review of my book, The Invisible Injured! He called it a "key text for future studies in the field" 👍 Check it out! #cdnhist#PTSD#militaryhistory https://t.co/JtJ2MAnkIf
What a nice surprise to get this new book by @TheRealDoctorT in the mail yesterday. Congratulations, Sayed, your amazing insights have provided me with deep, meaningful thoughts on numerous occasions.
"I have not yet come upon any instances of homicide over rare books although it is a common enough theme in crime fiction. I have, on the other hand, seen murder in people's eyes. Where books are involved feelings run high."
"I want dirt; I want chaos; I want, above all, mystery. I want to be able to step into a place and have the sense that there I'll find a book, as yet unknown to me, which to some degree will change my life."
Historian Rochelle Bush and @AMontgomery82 are restoring Black freedom seekers’ graves in Victoria Lawn Cemetery in St. Catharines. She spoke to @JeyanTVO about the importance of honouring and protecting historic Black burial grounds in Ontario. https://t.co/CXAzA7yZcZ
“To me, there’s something special about being able to stand at a person’s gravestone and gravesite,” historian @AMontgomery82 tells @mr_lois_lane. “It’s not just reading it on a paper. It brings to mind that these were living, breathing people.” https://t.co/fvZ4dTciE3
The Toronto Postcard Club's 41st postcard sale is just a week away. Hope to see some of you there! Here's the current show card *and* the card for the TPC's 1987 show - the first one I could have gone to as a (then) new Torontonian, had I known about it or cared about postcards.
Just finished Enthusiasms and Loyalties by @keithsgrant. Quite an interesting book, and engagingly written. I enjoyed learning about how feelings and emotions were cultivated, and affected by, larger religious and political events in the Enlightenment Atlantic. 👍👍
@nobyrnelaw @keithsgrant Thanks for this, just finished listening. It was a great complement to the book, especially while the content is still fresh in my head. "Big ideas in small places," I like that way of putting it!
