Russian UFO Files Update: Just prior to her medical emergency, Natalja had made direct contact with one of @g_knapp's original Russian sources on Soviet anomalous phenomena research.

Being a native Russian speaker has its advantages. Doors that stay closed to Western researchers don't always stay closed to us.

The source: Nikolai Kapranov, a Russian physicist who served as Security Advisor to the Soviet Parliament. By Knapp's own account, Kapranov was his "man in Moscow.” The person who arranged Knapp's landmark 1993 trip to interview over a dozen military officials, intelligence operatives, and scientists about secret Soviet UFO programs. Knapp and his principals arranged an office in Moscow and a salary for him. Not a casual acquaintance.

Natalja's approach was straightforward: she introduced herself, explained she was studying her father's 119-page UFO engineering archive, noted possible connections to the SETKA program, and shared a link to the digitized documents. She asked if he could help clarify context.

What followed is a textbook study in managed information exchange.

First, Kapranov claimed he could barely remember George Knapp. The Western journalist who made him his key facilitator in Moscow, arranged a salary and office, and relied on him to broker access to some of the most sensitive Soviet military and intelligence figures… and he recalls "with difficulty"? That strains credulity.

Second, he asked Natalja to reveal the topic before confirming anything asking if this was “about UFOs?” She did, identifying the UFO/UAP connection, the SETKA program, and providing the full archive link (below).

Third, after nearly two weeks with access to the materials, he responded today not with any engagement with the documents themselves, but with a sweeping categorical statement:
confirming research was conducted at the Academy of Sciences, every single episode was investigated, and "not a single one" was found to be anomalous. All had confirmed explanations. Case closed.

This is demonstrably false. The Soviet program's own documented outputs include a residual category of unexplained cases consistent with every serious governmental study of these phenomena worldwide, and consistent with what the very officials Kapranov himself introduced to Knapp reported. A 100% resolution rate is not what the record shows.

It's worth noting: Kapranov was a physicist and parliamentary security advisor, not an Academy of Sciences researcher. He's presenting another institution's conclusions as definitive while speaking from outside it.

Fourth, he closed the door: "I'm sorry if I disappointed you, but this is indeed the case."

Now here's the key analytical question. Kapranov is still in Moscow.

Distancing himself from this topic is understandable. But if self-preservation was the motive, ignoring an unsolicited email from a stranger was the safest play. No obligation, no exposure, no risk.

Instead, he chose to engage across multiple messages over two weeks. He drew out enough information to understand exactly what Natalja had, what she was researching, and how far the analysis had progressed. Then he delivered a categorical shutdown and a definitive counter-narrative designed to close inquiry.

That's not how someone with a bad memory behaves. That's collection followed by a response.

Whether this was self-motivated caution, residual obligation, or something more directed the pattern speaks for itself: assess the inquiry, understand the scope, deliver the denial.

We're not discouraged. We're just getting started. The Černohajev Archive stands on its own merits. The documents are public. The correlations with documented U.S. government programs totaling billions in advanced propulsion, fusion, and MHD research are forensically mapped. No single gatekeeper gets to close that door.

And we speak the language.
