As an interventional cardiologist, I spend more time screening people for obstructive sleep apnea than I do for coronary artery disease.
Message from patient who had vague non-specific symptoms, and all of his cardiac testing I performed was negative (echocardiogram, angiogram, etc), who got a sleep study at my recommendation:
"You were right! Very severe obstructive sleep apnea."
He's probably had OSA for decades - no one talked to him about it until he met me for the first time.
OSA is extremely under-diagnosed and associated with a big increase in heart disease, stroke, AFib, sudden death etc. Also makes your life miserable because of poor sleep.
And no, you don't have to be overweight/obese to have it.
Please get tested if you have symptoms or risk factors
There's no better endorsement than real life experience! Thank you @thejackhopkins for your heartfelt recount - #sleep is so important and #sleepapnea has an easy fix!
(Btw, there are a few awesome cushions and homemade/DIY options to help with those mask and strap indents now!)
There is no Paleo Sleep Solution.
