BREAKING: The 7th Court of Appeals has rendered Judgment in the case of APD Officer Christopher Taylor - REVERSED & ACQUITTED! We are so happy for our client! Full media statement will follow.
@justicetracking@KVUE And I think they’re both back out already. Makes me crazy thinking about the risks that other officers and I took to get them into custody just for the DA and Judges to release them once more.
@MattMackowiak He 100% knew what the issues were. Ken, Donald and I had a meeting with him about a month prior to the indictments coming down where we told him what was going on but his plan to dismantle our Dept was already in motion so he screwed over our guys.
In this week's FOX 7 Focus, FOX 7 Austin's John Krinjak sits down with Thomas Villarreal, president of the Austin Police Association, to discuss the APA's new podcast, the controversial APD/DPS partnership, and police staffing and funding. https://t.co/3RFCeoxlcY
@saveaustintx Trust me when I say our Officers don’t like that it is this way. I took a crash yesterday where a young man waited over 4 hours for me to show up. Wasn’t because no one wanted to work his crash. Just not enough Officers working and too many high priority calls coming in.
@chrisharris904@chrisharris101 I am not sure what all they ask in exit interviews when they happen. We (@ATXPOA) have asked previously to see them so we could help to understand what folks are saying but we were denied with the City saying that it was not subject to open records.
@chitovela3 Or we could get back under contract, give our current and future employees some stability and try to actually dig ourselves out of this staffing crisis.
"This issue has been going ongoing and is affecting many officers. It is unacceptable that officers are not paid for their work in a timely manner. We hope the city will do the right thing and get this problem resolved."

Headed home from Manor PD awards ceremony. Got a text about a Lvl 1 RTR so to the hospital I go. Proud to be the person our officers call when they need help. Met with our officers and made sure @CLEAT was coming so we could take care of our guys. Stay safe. Call me if U need to.
@DoubleO7akaTheC@SaldanaAustinTX Not yet. We will hold a vote if/when the Council approves it on their side. And no, I am not going to negotiate a 1-year with the City until we resolve the 4-year that has been TA’d.
@RonDeLord Thank you @RonDeLord for the guidance and clarity given to our team over the past year. It is much appreciated. We couldn’t have gotten it done without you. Not too bad for a couple guys from Port Neches and Lake Jackson.
@MattMackowiak Matt, what is sad is that we are very close to finalizing a deal and have people saying that it’s too much to fast. We’ve been at the table for a year and last I checked, the City treats our proposals as work product as soon as we publicly present them. Just have to read.
@Jennifer_cleat@CLEAT 100%. This case never should have gone as far as it went. Have a conversation about the civil liability the City has, but criminal charges were doomed from the start.
