Top House Democrats are touting a poll which found that increasing state funding for higher education so all students from families making less than $250k get tuitionless degrees at state colleges and universities.

House Bill 1168 passes the #PAHouse by a vote of 107-95.

We thank all those who supported shared governance on the PASSHE Board of Governors. The bill now heads to the Senate.

House Bill 1168 made it through second consideration earlier today.

There was one amendment that failed by a vote of 102-100.

APSCUF looks forward to a future vote on final consideration and we thank @RepSchweyer and @RepTimBriggs for their efforts on this legislation.

And House Democrat's modified Shapiro budget, including ~$700 million in new education funding and $200 million in reoccurring funding for Whole Home Repairs, passes party line, 102-101. IIRC, this is the first bill to pass w/o a GOP vote.
