The top male rising seniors from across the state of Alabama come together to learn about leadership, politics, and service through the formation of their own mock state government. As an AD, I remind our coaches that all the knowledge in the world about your sport does not matter if you cannot teach it or communicate it. Great coaches are not just experts in X’s and O’s, they are teachers, leaders, and communicators. Athletes do not need a coach who simply knows more, they need a coach who can connect, explain, motivate, and hold them accountable. If your players cannot understand it, trust it, or apply it, then knowledge alone has no value. The best coaches turn knowledge into growth, confidence, and ultimately wins.

Then she got honest about her own leadership:
"Get ready to push that. Get ready to take that on for your players first so that they can see the role modeling of someone who faces hard, who embraces hard."

Leaders go first.

You can't ask your team to embrace hard if you're not willing to do it yourself.

You have to be willing to embrace adversity.

Adversity isn't a roadblock - it's the path.
