@mudlanegoldens@educator4ever36 Educators should not be in the business of discouraging stereotypes. They should be teaching. This is why I have college freshmen who can't write a paragraph. Teachers are too busy with cultural indoctrination to teach basic skills.
@Axxyworks This is what is wrong with our society today. Too many people who show a flagrant disregard for rules and then refuse to accept any responsibility for the inevitable problems they produce. I feel badly for her family but as far as I'm concerned, they don't deserve a penny.
The most metabolically ill country on Earth has a control group living right inside it, and the results are deeply inconvenient.
The Amish eat butter, lard, eggs, meat, and raw milk straight from their own cows, by the bucket. They cook in animal fat. They eat the saturated fat the rest of us were told to fear for fifty years. Their obesity rate sits around 4%. The country around them is closing on 40%, four in ten adults. Ten times lower, on the diet that was supposed to be killing them.
They are not dropping from heart attacks at the rate the theory demands either. Their overall cancer rates run lower than the surrounding American population, despite skipping most of the screening that is meant to be saving everyone else.
Now, honesty, because it matters. The Amish are not low-carb. There are pies and bread and plenty of sugar on an Amish table. This is no clean carnivore case, and I will not pretend it is.
What it is, is a controlled experiment sitting in plain sight across Pennsylvania and Ohio. Same country. Same supermarkets down the road. The Amish simply opt out of two things: the ultra-processed food and the sitting still. Their men walk upward of 18,000 steps a day. They eat food their grandmothers would recognise, and they move like their lives depend on it, because for most of history they did.
The animal fat was never what made America sick. The seed oil, the sugar, the packet, and the sofa did that, and the Amish skipped all four. They ran the experiment by accident, by living in the same country as everyone else and politely declining to join in.
''The Amish basically have no obesity, no infertility, no cancer, no diabetes, no metabolic syndrome. They’re having 10 plus kids and they’re incredibly happy.''
Porn is rewiring young brains in scary ways.
Andrew Huberman explained: Young brains (up to ~25) are incredibly plastic. Porn sets an insanely high threshold for stimulation by flooding dopamine in ways real sex and life can’t match. It turns everything else into background noise.
Real intimacy is about being present with someone, communicating, experiencing it together, not watching others perform.
Theo Von: “When you take a step back… it’s a little bizarre. It’s definitely intrusive.”
Frequent porn consumption has been linked in neuroimaging studies to reduced gray matter volume in reward centers, desensitization to natural sexual stimuli, and increased risk of erectile dysfunction and intimacy issues in younger men.
@esterezw It's pretty much that simple. Young men need to focus on THEMSELVES, their lives, interests, and careers. If they are successful, the female situation will take care of itself.
@Jack_Schmidt_TM It's amazing to me that they don't understand this. I once had a woman send me a copy of her bank statement. It's like they are projecting what they want onto us. What men are looking for and what women are looking for is two very different things.
They told women the home was a prison.
So they handed them a cubicle, a Slack account, a performance review, and a boss named Brad who screams about Excel spreadsheets.
This was supposed to be freedom?
You traded babies laughing in the kitchen for inbox anxiety.
You traded a husband who would die for you for a manager who would replace you by Friday.
You traded family dinners for DoorDash at 9:30 because you’re too tired to cook and too stressed to sleep.
The lie was that motherhood, marriage, and home were beneath you.
They weren’t. They were the treasure.
The modern world took the sacred things, called them slavery, and sold women fluorescent lights as liberation.
Family was never the cage.
Family was the kingdom.
@AlyssaLogic True, high levels of sexual interest and activity prior to marriage is associated with an increased risk of infidelity during marriage (Fincham & May, 2017; Treas & Giesen, 2000) and it is widely accepted that between 20-40% of all divorces are the result of an affair.
Men and women handle stress completely differently, and it’s by design.
Dr. Jeff Myers explains: Under stress, men’s bodies flood with dopamine and push them into action. Women’s bodies release norepinephrine and drive them to think, focus, and process more deeply.
Alone, each response has limits. Together? They balance each other perfectly, like two pitches of a roof leaning on one another to create real strength.
Research by Shelley Taylor (UCLA) introduced the “tend-and-befriend” response in females under stress , driven by oxytocin and norepinephrine, which promotes social connection and careful processing, complementing the male “fight-or-flight” dopamine-driven action response. This biological complementarity likely evolved to improve survival and offspring protection.
@GirlsChase From my book "women report that intelligence is one of the traits they value most in a partner, yet they aren’t envisioning ...a world class scientist or even the valedictorian of their local high school... (e.g., nerd)... but someone who is at least as intelligent as they are
@GirlsChase The interesting thing is if you ask women what they want in a partner, such as the famous Buss research, intelligence is always high on the list. But as this finding demonstrates, and any highly intelligent man can attest, that's not who they date. So much for self-report.
@ChrisWillx At one level it is sad (though hardly surprising). But should any adolescents be having sex? Perhaps their lack of activity is evidence of their intelligence.
