@wurm_joel @KIN110UofR I think an owner should have to follow the same societal rules as the rest of the crowd and coaching staff. Pushing a player in a violent way or out of anger should not be tolerated. If this was in a manner of joking or trying to 'hype' him up then it would have been accepted.

@Abby63230033 @KIN110UofR They would still be considered sports but would lose their entertainment value to the general public. Most people don't go to sporting events for the good plays or hard work of the players, they want to be entertained and the aggression and violence is a main way to do so.

Evander Kane was recently ejected after hitting Radko Gudas in the head. Was this an act of violence? When do sports become an act of violence? Or just simply part of the game.

@JuanVar62551361 @KIN110UofR Schools and organizations are banning all sorts of hazing. Athletes are going to find ways around simply banning it. I believe there needs to be stronger repercussions if caught in such an act. This has to be for the serious things and not just making the rookies grab things.

@RachelOToole10 Wow! I did not know that there's ever been examples of criminal charges in the NHL during a game. I've only seen examples of criminal charges outside the rink.

Hockey Canada has recently decided to come away from the terms it uses to define it's age groups (tyke, novice, atom, pewee, bantam, midget) and switch to under 8, etc. This is rumored to be because they are trying to get away from the discriminatory term that is 'midget' hockey.

In women's USPORTS hockey there has been some allegations of bullying from coaches towards athletes. The main university affected is from my hometown and I stand with a lot of these girls comments. This is an example of coaches abusing power and deviance. https://t.co/qsAhb7Qqnm

@KIN110UofR To increase the number of women in leadership positions we must use social media as a platform to address the barriers that stand in front of them. The women who are qualified for these positions should talk about the struggles and show everyone how qualified they are.

@KIN110UofR The government can be more involved my helping cut down the amount of fast food restaurants that sponsor youth sports and or professional sports as kids and adults also pick up on advertising.

@KIN110UofR I believe the norms of masculinity in sport are changing as females are more comfortable being 'manly' and playing a tougher sport that would usually be just for guys like football. Women are also not afraid to show masculinity in the way that they dress while playing.

@KIN110UofR Women's sports in general lack media coverage completely. Unless you are a female athlete or involved with one in a way, you most likely don't know what is going on in that sport world, WNBA, CWHL/NWHL, etc. These women are incredibly talent and deserve to have the same coverage.

@KIN110UofR Many students discussed highlights, it made me reminisce about watching TSN Top 10 before school everyday and how when you watch the highlights the games seemed so exciting but in reality it could have been a ridiculously boring game with maybe not a lot of points scored.

@KIN110UofR Personally, I don't think it impacts my enjoyment of professional sport negatively. I don't enjoy the bright logo boards but they're not too hard to look pass during a game. I love the team merchandise aspect and being able to rep 'your' team proudly around everywhere!

@KIN110UofR The Riders draw a large crowd because of the fact that they are one of the only teams in the area. This makes coming to a game a big planned out event that fans are super excited for which can develop a sense of pride and community in Regina for those fans.

@KIN110UofR In elementary school we had restrictions to what playground you could go on depending on what age group you were and what parts of the yard you could be in regarding your grade level. On the playground specifically we were just not allowed to jump off of any of the equipment.

@KIN110UofR I would let my child play on an adventure playground as I believe it's risky but it's a great way to develop their motor skills, as long as they are being supervised to make sure nothing goes wrong or if they fall they can be attended to. Kids need to be shown that its ok to fall

@KIN110UofR As most students discussed, I think it all depends on the kid. My one brother wanted to win everything and HAD to be first or it wasn't a useful part of his time. My other brother just wanted to show up and play with his friends to have fun and get out of homework #KIN110Fall2019

@KIN110UofR In softball (and sometimes in hockey), most teams do a chant or cheer before the game starts to get the team pumped up and ready to play. It is usually a play on words or something to do with the team mascot. #socialworlds
