@RossTetzloff I use a checklist for student's when they peer edit. I feel giving them things to specifically check helps them work together well.

@carmenlivesay 1 thing I do consistently is have students discuss their answers and where they found it in the text and why it is the answer. I have students pair up with students who have an answer different than them and it forces them to re-read the text and explain their thinking verballly.

@tgraums @DanielLukeRigg1 I love to have weekly context clue challenges in my classroom. We treat it like a game. Students work to find "clues" that can lead them to the meaning of the word. This is a fun way to build the skill of understanding word meanings in context. #tl508

@GajPerris I love to use a text that includes some dialogue in the story from another language. My curriculum has one text that has some Spanish dialogue throughout. The dialogue is not necessarily important to understanding the text but I can have a greater student buy in

@_yassie22_ I think my biggest struggle with backwards planning is deciding what I want the end goal to be. I teach at a school that has little to no curriculum and we have a LOT of room to add what we want, but it can be difficult to navigate that as a first year teacher or even a 2nd year.

@RuthDelgado_BU I work to build a lot of background knowledge for my students when it comes to our texts i ELA. For example, we are reading a story about a little boy searching for a missing child in white water rapids. I focus on vocabulary building and showing images of the setting for my ELLs

@AngladeMonica I think it would depend on the grade you teach! I teach elementary so I don't know if I could accurately teach stereotypes and race relations. However, I do try to celebrate bilingualism in the classroom via vocab and sharing how impressive it is to be bilingual with my students.

I try 2 compliment students when they share their skill of being bilingual. I try 2 leverage other languages during vocab instruction in the classroom to show conjugates #Tl508

Our classroom practices should be reflective of the communities we teach. One area we can easily improve is selecting culturally relevant texts for our students. To recognize our students and their experiences, I think teachers can work to be more inclusive in class texts. #TL508
