I think it would be expected that the US would run some level of deficit at all times as a consumer economy. I do believe there is positive significant to the moderation of that trend though

As opposed to say China who has a stated goal of displacing the U.S. as the world’s top economy. (+federal wage laws)

@NRO America no longer has the will to fight and win wars. Our unwillingness to strike power plants for example means we are not willing to do what is required to win a war. No one wants to put hardship on innocent people, but wars often require that to bring them to conclusion.
