⬇️ This is a game changer for species distribution modelling #SDM & its implications in terms of capturing the actual thermal niche perceived by forest-dwelling species inside their living habitats wich are not inside any weather station 😉 Read @HaesenStef's excellent 🧵
Wild & infuriating that in conjuring up the Nature Repair Market, the govt considered options of known effectiveness like legislation & regulation, grant programs & public investment in conservation & enviro mgt AND ruled them out for lame reasons🤯

Less than 20 years ago, the world was headed for a >4C warmer world by 2100. The amount of change that would occur under that much warming, that fast, was almost unimaginable and certainly unsurvivable for human civilization + a large percentage of the world's species. (thread)
Visited the botanic gardens in Belgium 🇧🇪 today and got to hear @ATSentinella talk about his research showing plants in the tropics are at greater warming risk 🌱 🥵

Our June editorial: Old forests are not replaceable. https://t.co/07bouy57TR
Governments around the world are too slow and too weak in their commitments to stop deforestation. And promises of restoration will not make up for the loss of old forests.
🧐 Ah, the age-old outlier problem!
🎓 This map, found on @vrtnws, shows the number of open vacancies in education in Flanders, per municipality.
