To end the year (and the #WordleHouse project), let's take a look at the history of Wordisle. We start in 185 with the Roman Conquest. They built the city of Lexiconium on the confluence of the River Lexicon and the River Lynam.
Today's #WordleHouse is the Lexicon History Centre. It explains the history of the Roman city, Lexiconium, which became Wordletown after the Conquest. There's a whole room on the legendary Knights of Lexicon who guarded the ruins of Lexiconium until defeated by the First Lord.
Happy "The Clangers might be cannibals day"!
the day i mark down in my diary each year as more important than any other. this literally won an AWARD five years ago 🎉
Imagine the world where Sam and his Tellyheads suddenly found themselves improvising a winner's reprise in the green room chucking everything off a couple of coffee tables
The final ep of Moonlighting aired OTD in 1989, and went full meta. Bruce Willis & Cybill Shepherd race to save their own characters, David & Maddy, from cancellation, because when the show ends they'll literally cease to exist. It even admits why Moonlighting ultimately failed
This is what the opening act in semi 2 was for 10 years ago.
Performed by the hosts, with no playback (yes, they remembered all the languages)

Here’s something slightly different I’ve been meaning to try for ages - a remaster of the original 1962 pinhole-camera gun barrel photo from the #JamesBond opening titles. I’ve never seen a full-frame of the actual photo (does it even still exist?) and the Connery version is the only one with all the lovely detail intact. Even by Roger’s debut (pic 2) it looks like a dreadful blown-out photocopy-of-a-photocopy.
So this is my attempt, made by stacking 4K grabs from Dr No, with extensive cleaning and tarting-up and recolouring of the bits we only see when the barrel jerks around once the blood has drenched the image. If you’re on a mobile please ‘Load in 4K’ for the full effect.
Maybe someone might find this useful? If nothing else it’s quite a pretty thing to gaze at for a while!
