We are heartbroken to share that Larry Thomas, a longtime member of Healthcare Rising Arizona, has passed away. Larry believed deeply in fighting for a future for the people who come after us — and he lived that commitment every day. We honor Larry by carrying forward the fight.

Congress wants to take healthcare away from 8.6 million people to give tax breaks to billionaires. It’s hard enough to survive in this economy, but @repdavid is willing to leave constituents like Ethan, a gig worker in Phoenix, to fend for himself. #HandsOffMedicaid
Hey @repdavid, you never know when your constituents might fall on hard times and need lifesaving access to care. That’s what happened to Craig in Scottsdale, who was able to undergo necessary cancer treatment after he lost his job thanks to AHCCCS. #HandsOffMedicaid
A MESSAGE TO CONGRESS: #HandsOffMedicaid
Our reps just voted to pass $880B cuts to Medicaid/AHCCCS, jeopardizing the health of people like Chad from Tucson. Any reduction in funding will devastate patients, our healthcare system & our economy. Take action: https://t.co/1VcRntF5Sa
Who would be hurt by cuts to Medicaid? Kids like Taiyloure’s son, who was born prematurely. Without early intervention programs to help him develop communication & motor skills, which are funded by Medicaid, he would struggle to learn at the pace of other kids. #HandsOffMedicaid
Marguerite’s story is not uncommon. Arizonans across the state are living paycheck to paycheck, and losing access to care through Medicaid/AHCCCS would make it harder to afford the essentials — and put lives in danger.

That's Healthcare Rising member Chad Durns, who went from telling his story to @SenMarkKelly, to visiting representatives in D.C. the next week, raising the alarm about why cuts to AHCCCS would hurt him and his family as they struggle to afford the necessary care for his MS.
One man shared that he had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021 and had struggled to work because of his condition. Without Medicaid, the cost for his treatment, including MRIs and infusion treatments, would be way too expensive.
Nearly 1 in 5 residents in @repdavid's district are enrolled in AHCCCS — over 134K people whose healthcare is at risk, including seniors, children & families. Stand with us to tell Congress to protect the lives of millions and keep their #HandsOffMedicaid! https://t.co/T327VY1CTV
We're standing up for AHCCCS! Last week we heard from a family whose children could lose coverage & from healthcare workers whose patients would be devastated by cuts to care. These are just some of the stories flooding in from @repdavid's district about the importance of AHCCCS!
THURSDAY 3/20 at 10 AM at the State Capitol: Join us to hear stories from patients & healthcare workers who would be impacted by cuts to Medicaid/AHCCCS, and demonstrate that Arizonans are ready to protect our care! RSVP here: https://t.co/v8GhDJ2Vk2
.@RepCiscomani signed a letter saying he didn’t support cuts to Medicaid (AHCCCS in AZ) because they would hurt children, disabled people, veterans & seniors. Tell him to stay true to his word! Send a letter to your rep urging them oppose any cuts. https://t.co/SqLSxrVDop
We collect signatures & knock on doors to win changes to our healthcare system, but we also do it to find common ground with our neighbors. Read the full story of our winning campaign for Prop 139 for abortion access from a member & researcher at @CWD_ASU: https://t.co/sjkG4KnI21
Election anxiety is real, but Healthcare Rising member Muriel shares how abortion access is motivating unlikely voters, and how every friend you convince to vote is worth it. Keep spreading the word & make sure your people know to vote before 7 pm tonight! #YesOnProp139
