Landed in Rome, Italy. I will be meeting President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and holding discussions with them. This visit will focus on how to boost India-Italy cooperation, especially focusing on the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEC). The Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-2029 will also be reviewed. I will also be visiting the Headquarters of the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) and strengthening India’s commitment to multilateralism as well as global food security.

Nel 2025 le esportazioni italiane verso l'India hanno superato i 5,7 miliardi di euro (+30% sul 2019) e quelle verso il Medio Oriente hanno raggiunto 28,2 miliardi (+7,2% sul 2024).

🚀 Il corridoio IMEC rappresenta una grande opportunità per l’Italia che avrà la possibilità di intercettare fino a 26 miliardi di traffico su un potenziale di 172.

📌Italy and Germany’s strategic convergence — from IMEC to critical minerals

🪨 Critical minerals: a coordinated push. The convergence between Rome and Berlin is also translating into concrete coordination on critical raw materials. Today, Italy and Germany have jointly submitted a political guidance paper to the European Commission aimed at strengthening the EU’s approach to critical minerals, reducing strategic dependencies and building secure supply chains for European industry.

🇮🇹🇩🇪 The initiative, launched by Italian Foreign Minister @Antonio_Tajani and his German counterpart @JoWadephul ahead of a U.S.-hosted meeting in Washington (the Critical Minerals Summit), follows commitments made at the January 23 bilateral summit and a joint declaration by industry Ministers @adolfo_urso and Katherina Reiche.

📄 The document calls for closer EU cooperation with the United States, G7+ partners and third countries — notably in Africa, the Indo-Pacific and Latin America — while stressing the need to invest in capacity-building, stockpiling, recycling and technological innovation, acknowledging that de-risking will entail additional, but manageable, costs.
