Exactly. Suddenly it becomes, “Move on. Accept it. Don’t talk about your private life.” I don’t think she’s struggling to get over him. She probably realised a long time ago what kind of horrid man he was, but stayed for the sake of the children. What she’s trying to heal from is the trauma he caused, and the way he abandoned his own kids. Notice how he says, “I’m willing to pay for their rent and school,” as though he’s doing her a favour. That’s not generosity. It’s the bare minimum responsibility of a father. It’s far too easy for some men to walk away from their children, do the bare minimum, or in many cases nothing at all, then accuse the mother of being “bitter” when she speaks up, while she’s left carrying the emotional, financial, and practical burden alone. He’s truly vile. And sadly, far too many women are living this same reality. Our legal and family court systems also need far stronger protections to ensure women and children aren’t left carrying the consequences of a father’s abandonment alone.
