@polidemitolog@aaronnarraph I’d say it’s because the definition of liberal and socialist can vary depending on the context they are used in (liberal more so). It wasn’t terribly uncommon to find liberal socialists https://t.co/gwOHKsopW7
So far I’ve heard we need to adopt the conservative position on:
- the border
- trans people
- abortion
Even if this was a winning idea (it’s not), at what point does democrats winning matter if said democrats act like republicans
Ezra Klein says the more worried you are about authoritarianism, the more willing you’ve got to be to run pro-life Democrats in red states.

I joined Detroit DSA in 2000. Was an active member for almost 2 decades, in leadership for at least a decade, spent countless hours and God knows how much money before most of the current members joined. Now, life circumstances make it almost impossible to attend chapter events
It's been nice to do what I can to keep up with what my old chapter is doing and still have the smallest of says in decisions. If that was taken away, I would probably not see much reason to stay a member at all.
This is Detroit DSAs largest campaign to date. 120+ vols since Feb in parking lots collecting dogs to get Denz on the ballot, knocked over 16k doors, thousands of calls, & raised thousands of small dollars. I am so proud of what we have built - onward to victory in November!
Spinoza can write "I have laboured carefully, not to mock, lament, or execrate human actions, but to understand them" (trans. Gosset), but the present is making that impossible for me.
@tsghoulfriend I’ll be amending your motion to exclude anyone who is still drunk from the previous nights shenanigans - being drunk on the convention floor? Cool, being hungover? Absolutely not that comrade needs another drink
Made a quick trip to Minnesota this week to meet up with @TwinCitiesDSA comrades who are gearing up for a busy election season! TCDSA is running candidates who will fight for the working class from Mayor of Minneapolis (@OmarFatehMN)…
@dsaRandR Glad to see more discussion of this, but there are numerous unsubstantiated and misleading claims. For example, UK Labour passed 1M1V for party leadership. in 2014, and then elected Jeremy Corbyn. So Keir Starmer has fought to repeal this. It appears ChatGPT missed this.
Thank you, @gabysantiromero, for being the only one to vote against a stricter curfew in Detroit. Where is the actual support for young people and families? Leaving it up to fines and courts is not the way to go.

My single biggest takeaway from the DSA one member, one vote debate is that many caucus leaderships seem to be deeply afraid of direct accountability to large numbers of members beyond their own tiny circles. 1/2
