Incredible support for Ottawa Pride! It's a party, a celebration and total support for liberation! Nothing performative about it.
Human rights for everyone NOW!
Joined a couple thousand friends earlier for @FierteCapPride to stand in solidarity with Ottawa's 2SLGBTQT+ community.
Despite it all, Pride was BUSTLING.
Happy to stand with folks who support human rights for everyone.
I stood outside the Shaw Centre in Ottawa to speak out against Ontario's decision to ban supervised consumption sites near schools/child-care centres, forcing 10 sites to close by March 2025. These sites save lives—they are a lifeline, not a "drug den." We will not go away. 🖕🏻
Are you a member of the @Carleton_U community? Outraged about Carleton's withdrawal from Pride? Channel your anger. Sign the letter below and join us on Sunday when we return to the roots of pride. Streets. Protest. Liberation for all.

1/ Since @uOttawa's admin didn't widely consult or even bother notifying students, staff and profs about the decision to divest from & boycott @FierteCapPride in #OttCity, at some point @recteurUOpres & co. will need to answer some basic questions like...
Frustrating to see local politicians and large orgs like @CHEO claiming to speak on behalf of the Jewish community in relation to the Pride statement when really they're only speaking to some Jews.
I'm a Jew in solidarity with Palestine who will be attending Capital Pride.
I'm a professor at Carleton. I support the organizers of capital pride. A huge contigent of profs from U of O and Carleton will be there with bells on. We know what's going on here.
@_MarkSutcliffe Shameful failure of leadership by @_MarkSutcliffe. Can't criticize Israel's actions in Gaza because it makes people feel "hurt" and "unwelcome". Here's the actual statement from Capital Pride: https://t.co/2arjd10m8d

Today, as a collective, 19 physicians and healthcare workers based in Canada who have worked in Gaza during this ongoing genocide have written to @JustinTrudeau to demand that Canada must do what is within its power to protect Palestinian people in Gaza. This genocide must end.
