There is one face that says Scotland the moment you see it, shaggy, horned, fringed and utterly unbothered.
The Highland cow, the Heilan coo, is one of the oldest cattle breeds in the world, and it was built by the Scottish weather itself. That famous double coat, long and coarse on the outside, soft and woolly beneath, lets it shrug off wind and rain and snow that would drive other breeds to shelter. The sweeping horns, the heavy fringe over the eyes that Scots affectionately call the dossan, the calm patient gaze, all of it belongs to the hills and glens where the breed was shaped over centuries.
These were not pampered animals. For generations the Highland cow was the wealth of ordinary people, hardy beasts that could live out on rough ground the year round, foraging where softer cattle would starve, giving rich milk and good beef from the poorest of grazing. In the old droving days, great herds of them were walked hundreds of miles south to the markets of the Lowlands and England, a slow river of horns moving through the passes. They were, quite literally, money on four legs.
And they are gentle. For all those fearsome horns, the Highland cow is famously placid and good natured, curious about people, tolerant of children, content to stand in the rain looking like the most photographed animal in the country, which it very nearly is.
There is a reason the sight of one stops us in our tracks. It is not just that they are handsome, though they are. It is that they are so completely of the place. A Highland cow standing in the mist, russet against the green, is Scotland distilled into a single patient, shaggy creature that has outlasted every hardship the land could offer.
Wherever Scots have gone in the world, the image of the Heilan coo has gone with them, a warm and slightly comical reminder of home. Some things just belong to us, horns, fringe and all.

Traffic Stop โ Elephants Coming Through!
One of this weekโs missions: helping 30 bulls navigate both a railway and a highway crossing to get back to safety.
Working with Kenya Wildlife Service teams on the ground, the SWT helicopter hovered overhead until the bulls formed a single group. Then, our pilot slowly shepherded the group through the railway underpass and towards the Mombasa Highway. KWS held up all road traffic, allowing the elephants safe passage.
The bullsโ journey home wasnโt complete yet. There was still a kilometre to go until they reached protected land, where ground teams created a temporary opening in the fence. Fortunately, the group was led by several older, experienced bulls, who knew the drill and cooperated with their aerial shepherd.
Three hours and two high-pressure crossings later, all the bulls were safely back inside Tsavo National Park.

Capital One says it closed Trump Organizationโs accounts after anti-money-laundering review. No wonder the crook wants immunity for himself and his family.

โThereโs thirteen billion dollars missing from the Venezuelan economy. It was generated from the proceeds of the Venezuelan nationalized oil sector - after Trump took unilateral military action without the approval of the U.S. Congress or the American people, and started selling the oil on the global market.
DJT essentially performed a smash and grab in the middle of the night with only one objective: to steal the shiny black jewel that is the nationโs oil industry. He did not change their dictatorial government, or offer democracy, or economic and humanitarian aid. He again on Saturday posted a meme depicting Venezuela as the 51st state.
Meaning, of course, in his mind it belongs to him; actions that are no different than a mob boss claiming his territory.
POTUS is a thief and has always been one - and he has now turned the United Statesโ geopolitical agendas into a gigantic grifting operation.
Marco Rubio was appointed to oversee the sale of the countryโs oil, and the thirteen billion dollars has disappeared on his watch.
Only a paltry 300 million has made its way back to the long suffering Venezuelan people according to their own official ledgers.
Over half of the country lives in extreme poverty. This is cruelty and larceny on a massive scale and it is mostly flying under the radar: we cannot get a straight answer out of the Trump administration as to where that money has gone.
Iโm sure Trump himself knows exactly where the purloined oil revenue has gone - and like everything else he sees as under his purview, his answer is basically, โNone of your fโn businessโ. This is a POTUS spent twenty years claiming the U.S. were suckers for not โtaking the oilโ in Iraq.
Donald ran a fraudulent Trump Organization (along with his co-conspirator children) for over four decades before he became president. Cooking the books and keeping all of the profits for himself, while cheating on his taxes and reneging on his contractors, is standard operation procedure.
Then he would send his businesses into bankruptcy to escape whatever debt he had accrued on what essentially amounted to money laundering operations for organized crime, and for which he profited handsomely all along.
Capitol One on Friday pushed back on a Trump Organization lawsuit that claims the company was a victim of โwoke debankingโ, by releasing documents showing the bank closed 300 Trump Organization accounts in 2021 only after review by their anti-money laundering experts.
This occurred after DJT was POTUS the first time. Imagine what he was getting away with before 2016.โ https://t.co/2QqvFejhRM
If we used the words 'genocide' or 'war crimes', twitter would apply sensitive filter to limit the posts reach. Use caution when viewing a large amount of footage, and take breaks, its rough.

Israeli forces have been bombing south Lebanon all morning.
Last night, they conducted another massive civilian home and infrastructure detonation in the town of Haddatha. This is an act of genocide.
Genocide is defined under Article Il of the 1948 UN Genocide Convention as any act committed with the intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial, or religious group. One of the five acts is โdeliberately imposing destructive life conditions.โ
More than 65 towns and villages in Lebanon are still under Israeli occupation and are undergoing daily illegal civilian home and infrastructure demolition.
So the USDA is going to spend $9 million dollars of taxpayer dollars to destroy 420,000 fruit-bearing trees and massive surplus of peaches to "maintain fruit prices" they won't donate the peaches to food banks, churches or feed the hungry, alright.
OK, you have to watch this because it explains how Donald Trump has created a criminal syndicate directly in front of our eyes. But the major takeaway is I canโt stop laughing at people being surprised by a criminal continuing to commit crimes.

Frederick Douglass was born into slavery around 1818 on Maryland's Eastern Shore, yet he would go on to become one of the most influential voices for freedom, equality, and justice in American history. Denied an education by law, Douglass secretly taught himself to read and write, recognizing that knowledge was one of the greatest tools against oppression. After escaping slavery in 1838, he transformed his life into a mission to expose the brutality of slavery and advocate for equal rights.
His speeches captivated audiences across the United States and Europe because they combined personal experience with extraordinary intelligence and moral clarity. His autobiography, Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, an American Slave, became an international bestseller and gave millions of people an unfiltered account of what slavery truly looked like. At a time when many questioned whether a formerly enslaved man could produce such brilliant writing, Douglass shattered racist stereotypes through the power of his words.
But his work did not end with abolition. During the Civil War, Douglass pushed President Abraham Lincoln to allow Black men to serve in the Union Army, believing that military service would strengthen the fight for freedom and citizenship. After slavery ended, he continued campaigning for voting rights, equal protection under the law, public education, and opportunities for Black Americans. He also supported women's suffrage, arguing that justice could never be selective.
Douglass often reminded people that freedom required constant vigilance. One of his most enduring observations was, "Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will." More than a century later, those words continue to inspire movements for civil rights and social justice around the world.
Frederick Douglass proved that a person born into the harshest circumstances could change the course of history through education, courage, and an unwavering commitment to truth. His life remains a powerful reminder that ideas, when spoken fearlessly, can outlast chains.
