Policy and Legal Issues in Intercollegiate Athletics

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

@EddieComeaux Since schools spend so much money funding police on campus, they should at least make sure they are well trained/informed on how to NOT abuse their power especially amongst African American Students. It must be taught and instilled in their everyday life!!!! #RacialJustice

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

@Andcam01 @rabea_qamar I agree. this makes them to limit their potential.

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

Think about it, is it fair to give college athletes easier classes just so they can pass them for the sole purpose of being eligible for athletics? This contradicts the whole purpose of being a STUDENT-athlete. @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #ucr150

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

The NCAA gives a narrative that athletes should put school first, but this is often not the case. How can an athlete put school first when more than 80% of their life consist of sports?? The NCAA's narrative is misleading if you ask me !

@armandito_96 @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar This is harsh, but the truth hurts. I agree!!!

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

There are many restrictions/burdens that transfer students face simply because they were not well informed. Who should be blamed? Student athletes? or their agents??#Ucr150 @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

@AdrianR08017265 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely This shows that they really do not care about the well-being of the player.

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

A players health should be the number 1 priority. If a player is injured, they should still receive their scholarship throughout their years upon graduation! This is the honest truth.#ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

@jacyboles @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely This is the sad truth! The sports industry will forever remain sexist until a major reform happens. #ucr150

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

Apparently the purpose of Title XI is to implicate equal treatment as a key feature in college sports, BUT WE ALL NO THIS WILL NEVER HAPPEN. As a woman college athlete I can attest to this. sexism is very much real. @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #ucr150

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

@Shalae1017 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely I totally agree with this. It makes it seem like they are disposable.

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

Isn it crazy how athletes are trained to believe "Signing Day" should be the beginning of freedom in their athletic career, but in reality it is the beginning of them signing their rights away. #ucr150 @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

@floresdanielUCR @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar @helloJuJudy This is debatable. But I do not think they should be paid. #ucr150

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

@sheilaluna___ @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar This is very interesting. Basically students are replaceable and are not secure. #ucr150

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

I was completely shocked when I found out that fewer college students have the opportunity to participate in college sports due to the price ceiling. I thought this was ineffective towards students. #ucr150

[Chioma Abaekobe @AbaekobeJ]

I agree with the people who criticize athletes self advocacy outside of the NCAA stating that it will do more harm than good.I find it concerning how there is not enough media coverage. #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
