Took a step back in between units to do some hexagonal thinking with what we’ve already learned and themes that continue to appear. Such cool convos took place!
Ms. Martin's and Mr. Rickard's classes soaked in the last few days of nice weather last week! The 8th grade Social Studies team played capture the flag to better understand the advantages and disadvantages of both the British and Continental Armies during the Revolutionary War.
It might be the week before Fall Break, but our Eagles are still working hard! Students in Ms. Martin's Social Studies class are making pamphlets for/against the Revolutionary War inspired by Common Sense and Thomas Paine.

Started a Friday tradition where students pick another person in class that they appreciated this week as their MVP. So far things like explaining content, sharing materials, and being a good friend have showed up. I can’t wait to share some of these quotes with their adults 🥹❤️
The Fault in Our Stars has been removed from the YA section in the suburbs of Indianapolis and is now considered a "book for adults." This is ludicrous. It is about teenagers and I wrote it for teenagers.
Teenagers are not harmed by reading TFIOS. This is such an embarrassment to the city of @FishersIN.
Hi all! I’m less than two weeks away from my first year of teaching (ahhhh)! If anyone would like to support my classroom I am sharing my wishlist below!

Doing a penpal thing w my students here in Spain and the kids I student taught with in Indiana. First instinct for one of them was to try to trace their face onto paper so whoever receives the letter can know what the look like. It obviously did not work. I love middle schoolers.
A fun meeting w/ SSOUL learning about material culture and how to partner w/ museums in the classroom! Museum educators are some of the best of us, like truly some of the coolest!
We are kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month with a beautiful display and a quote from Cesar Chavez, "We need to help students and parents cherish and preserve the ethnic and cultural diversity that nourishes and strengthens this community and this nation."
Thinking about all my recently graduated teacher friends starting school in the coming weeks. Recognizing that it is such a difficult time to be entering the field, but omg I’m so grateful for and proud of y’all🥺
@eductharndt Made a unit plan a few years ago for the trilogy bc I loved it so much! Probably needs a few edits lol (like added literacy supports) but here it is:)
