A new tool for your Mac! 💻
Abendrot by @matthewrball - The macOS app for your circadian rhythm. Grounded in peer-reviewed light research, it warms your entire workspace around sunset, because staring at bright blue light at night isn’t ideal.

@surovale@deebovv Nice. Abendrot makes this much less convoluted (no shortcuts automations needed) and packages it in a beautiful menu bar experience.
We also have true color keyboard shortcuts (Apple doesn’t have this) and precise Kelvin screen warmth measurements.
At night you need to reduce your blue light exposure.
Night Shift is a light yellowing. It barely cuts the short-wavelength melanopic light that tricks your body clock into thinking it's still daytime.
Introducing Abendrot—the free, open-source Mac app for your circadian rhythm.
Abendrot warms your displays around your local sunset and minimizes the specific short-wavelength, melanopic light (blue/cyan) that tricks your body clock into thinking it's still daytime.

Today I’m releasing Abendrot—the free, open-source Mac app for your circadian rhythm.
An evening screen is not just bright or uncomfortable; it is a signal to your body clock.
The deeper I went into the research, the harder it became to ignore the role light plays in the body’s daily timing, especially the blue and cyan short-wavelength light emitted by screens at night.

@aasthajs Warming pulls the blue down, but a warm screen at full brightness is still a big dose — so dim as well as warm.
That's why we built Abendrot to do the warming automatically at local sunset, on every display. Free and open source: https://t.co/pj7irAwpTN
