I have been monitoring the Venezuela issue all day long, and there are so many questions yet to be answered (thanks to great Pentagon OPSEC), but the strategic reason for bringing down Maduro has become abundantly clear.

While we ostensibly captured Maduro based on legitimate, outstanding US drug charges from 2020, the real reason for the military operations early this morning is that neutralizing Maduro's Venezuela had become a strategic imperative for the USA.

Under Maduro, Venezuela had become the Latin American crossroads for all of the USA's principal enemies. Maduro was nurturing relationships with Russia, Hezbollah and Iran. Worst of all, Venezuela was eagerly becoming a part of Red China's Belt & Road initiative.

As America's enemies were lining up Venezuela as their base of operations in the Western Hemisphere to cause mischief and destruction for the USA, Maduro was at the same time making Venezuela a crossroads, safe haven and enabler for all manner of narcoterrorist operations, ranging from Colombia's FARC to Mexico's Sinaloa cartel.

On top of all that, Venezuela had become a key player in the illegal alien invasion of the USA, shipping its very worst to the USA in a deliberate and comprehensive destabilizing operation that might have worked had Donald Trump not won in 2024.

Next in importance: oil. The global and regional ambitions of both China and Russia are in large part dependent on the politics of petroleum, and the USA just deprived both of the cudgel afforded by friendly Venezuelan oil. Trump opponents say "It's about oil" as if that was a bad thing. Yeah, it's about oil.

Finally, all of this was in keeping with the most essential and fundamental foreign policy mandate of the USA almost since the nation's inception: the Monroe Doctrine. Operations like what Maduro was running simply cannot be allowed in the Western Hemisphere. Trump was right for falling back on this most basic of doctrines that protects the USA's sovereignty.

So was Maduro seized because of some five year-old drug charges? Yes. Legally--yes. However, like so many strategic issues in the world today, an action needed to be backed by the fine points of law, and it was. But the reality is that the Maduro takedown was a Monroe Doctrine-driven necessity that has greatly enhanced the power and national security of the USA.

Congratulations, Donald Trump, Marco Rubio, Pete Hegseth and the rest of the Trump national security team: you boldly took the steps necessary to defend the USA.

I want to say -- unequivocally-- that I agree with everything Ben says here, unless there is something he said I can't remember, but nothing comes to mind. He is at his best here and I implore you to watch this if you think a) Fuentes is not evil and b) that Tucker can be justified in any way for inviting him on and throwing him softballs and not challenging his vile answers, and c) that Heritage should not be ashamed both for their statement in defense of Tucker, and also, more shockingly, doubling down on it when reasonably and inevitably attacked for it.

As far as I know, Fuentes has been poison since he's been on the public scene, but Tucker was at one time a valuable and gifted spokesman for the right, not to mention a very nice guy. I hate saying this, but it no longer matters if he's a nice guy. It no longer matters that he did great work for conservatism. He is throwing all that down the drain for who knows what conceivable reason. Did he ever believe what he said when he was shooting bullseyes when with Fox?

Heritage, too. I can't sit back and allow my historic admiration for this august organization and for Kevin Roberts, who, like Tucker, has been nothing but nice and respectful to me in my very limited interaction with him(them). I hate taking on people I thought were on my side, but this all stinks to high heaven and if I don't have the moral courage to step up to the plate and condemn all this in the strongest terms, then I become passively complicit. I can't live with that.

Again, I beg you to watch and hear every word of Ben's podcast here, including every clip he uses letting these people speak for themselves, and explain to me, if you are so inclined, how you can conclude anything appreciably different from what I'm saying here.

Lines must be drawn, indeed they've already been drawn, and not by us. But I'm going to do everything in my power to stay on the other side of the line from these influences. These are not mere political disagreements. These are moral and spiritual inflection points from which there is no turning back. If you care about the country, if you care about the conservative movement and MAGA, and if you care about your own soul, please prayerfully consider these vital developments -- and issues.

A domestic terrorist went hunting Jews last night in Wash DC open firing outside a Jewish event killing 2 Jews. The terrorist Elias Rodriguez yelled “Free Palestine” as he got arrested. This type of tragedy is the natural progression of events when the morons running our colleges, far left politicians, and hate merchants on social media continue to normalize and seemingly encourage anti semitism in this country.

The least surprising part about this tragedy is that the killer hated America long before the conflict in the Middle East. He was an active member of the Party for Socialism & Liberation and the People’s Congress of Resistance. He was a serial agitator as so many of the Free Palestine movement are. For them this isn’t just about the war in Gaza. This is about hating America and our way of life. And the more that antisemitism is normalized in this country the more it emboldens these lunatics to commit these heinous acts.

The bottom line is that nobody in this country should be intimidated or fear for their safety because of their religion but here we are.
