DEAR ALLIED HEALTH STUDENTS WAKE UP AND REJECT THE NEW UNFAIR UHPAB POLICY.

The cross-semester retake policy (Affecting retake sittings); This policy introduces a backward and contradictory rule regarding when a student can clear their backlog of failed course units. The examination board states this in its circular under part (vii) ‘’A candidate shall not register for Assessment in more than 2 semesters. This will enable the Trainee to concentrate and pass the failed papers’’.
Restrictions on Cross- semester Retakes: A student with retakes spanning 2 or more semesters (e.g... one retake from semester1, year 1 and one retake from semester 2, year 1) is prevented from sitting all outstanding retakes in the current progression semester (semester 1, year 2) even if the total number of retakes is just only 2. Also not forgetting those with 3 retakes in 3 different semesters, they can also sit for their 3 retakes and pass them as well, in accordance with the provision of a candidate sitting for a maximum of 3 retakes.
Contradictory Allowance: The student is forced to postpone one retake, delaying their eventual qualification, even though UHPAB officially allows students to sit for a maximum of 3 retakes at one time.
Baseless Reasoning: A student with three (3) retakes originating from a single previous semester is allowed to sit all the three (3) retakes, while a student with 2 retakes split across 2 previous semesters is denied this same opportunity. The stated reasoning-that a student with 2 separate retakes can not concentrate as well as a student with 3 grouped retakes. This reasoning is illogical, unscientific and fundamentally baseless.
