Official team for CT #adopteerights. 2021: Successfully restored equality to all CT-born adult #adoptees /BOD: @KarenCaffrey @WriterCindyWB @idesirees +2
IT'S OFFICIAL!!! Gov. Ned Lamont has signed PA 21-21 into law. Every single #adoptee born in CT and who is at least 18 yrs old will be able to request their original birth certificate from the town clerk where they were born starting July 1, 2021. #adopteerights#adopteevoices
CT #Adoptees: Here's everything you need to know to exercise your right to obtain your original birth certificate starting this Thurs. 7/1 #adopteerights https://t.co/tXlB4d8BiY
At some point, hopefully everyone will realize that the adult adopted persons who will finally have access to our original birth certificates as of July 1 are no longer children. The youngest of us who are covered by Public Act 21-21 is 37 years old.
#HB6105 is now Public Act No. 21-21 and will be sent to the governor soon for a signature! Right now is a terrific time to contact him and ask him to make #equality the law by signing HB 6105/P.A. 21-21 (reference either). #adopteerights#adopteevoices https://t.co/5n1XJE0Jf1
**LAST ACTION ALERT** We're not finished just yet! Fire up those voices and let's get this bill across the finish line to make Connecticut the 10th state to treat ALL #adoptees equally. Here's how: https://t.co/lcxkDwmoyU… #adopteerights#adopteevoices#adoptee
Often people don't make the jump from orig. birth certs to medical histories so here it is: Restoring rights to orig birth certs is the best way for adoptees to get their own health histories & nothing works better than enabling adults to take responsibility over their own health
@KelleyBrick@CTSenateDems@CTSenateGOP@LGSusanB@GovNedLamont Hi Kelly! He hasn’t signed it just yet. It has a few administrative steps to go through before that but soon. We’ll definitely keep everyone updated on this of course! Our team is hard at work to ensure it’s signed. Thank you for your support!
We are totally crushing on this pic! And we are deeply, deeply grateful @SteveCassano answered the call to public service many years ago and landed in our world, ultimately choosing equal rights & Connecticut #adoptees (and our families!) to be part of his legacy. #adopteerights
Does anyone know of any brave legislator/ure in America who put an apology on public record to us and our mothers? We know the Australian Parliament did it in 2013 followed by the @catholicEW in 2016 and @unitedchurchcda last November. Just don't know that it's been done here. 🤔
Catholic Mothers For Truth & Transparency urging you to BE CAUTIOUS of any Catholic-run organization trying to convince you to keep discriminating against #adoptees today. #adopteerights#adopteevoices#equality#healing
Right now, we're just deep in the fond memory of legislators like @SenatorKissel whose thoughtful consideration over the years is so meaningful and appreciated. Thanks for your support on #HB6105 this year, Senator Kissel!
When legislators work on getting updated policies in place, it reflects their commitment to making sure laws are modern, relevant and fair. Please join us in thanking @SenatorKissel for doing this very thing yesterday. We are deeply appreciative of his support on @HB5408!
@adopteelaw Good morning, Greg! We know you are only trying to help but again, we ask you to heed the requests of advocates in Hartford today. We'll definitely let you know if/when we have an official call-to-action out. Let's have a joyful day togther fully focused on 40k adoptees! Cheers.
@CTSenateDems@CTSenateGOP Also, good morning #adopteetwitter! 🌞 We know everyone is excited ahead of senate debate on #HB6105, our #adopteerights bill, but there is NO official call-to-action from our team. We promise you will know for sure if/when we have an official call-to-action alert out. Thank you!
Good policymaking involves making sure everyone is treated equally. As non-adoptees and younger adopted adults are able to know their full truths, so should older adopted adults. @CTSenateDems@CTSenateGOP are taking up this very issue later today. #HB6105 https://t.co/jrmGQgD0Vf
All about our legislators from here on out. We're channeling this guy right now for his courage to continue telling his own story publicly to get his colleagues to support the #adopteerights bill. We're almost there! TY Rep. @TomDelnicki! We ❤️ you!
@adopteelaw@AdopteesUnited From advocates on the ground in Hartford: No official call-to-action is supported at this time. The best way to help 40k CT #adoptees ahead of our debate tomorrow is to sit tight, or socialize some equality-focused content if you inspired to do so. Thanks, Greg!
