The best protective factor #ForEveryChild is a dedicated, loving parent or caregiver. Low-cost, evidence-based parenting programmes improve attachment, nurturing care & safety. #AdverseChildhoodExperiences are not inevitable. The #ParentingVaccine https://t.co/K8VVTMup3B
For the new @ScotSentencing guidelines on Young People to work this is the sort of basic information all judges will require. It isn’t enough to understand the impact of trauma. The key is how people respond armed with knowledge.

Scotland’s drug death emergency must not be forgotten during #COP26 .
Good that Nicola Sturgeon, Douglas Ross and Angela Constance will be visiting Bluevale Community Club together to focus on recovery.
@ScottishLabour showed solidarity with recovery activists on #ClimateMarch

A case of,"how will they learn if we don't punish them."Punishing a child NEVER helps them regulate their behaviour, you're only dosing up their stress response. If we want our young people to behave better,we first need to understand why they are behaving in this way.🧠🌱
Men don’t like talking about suicide or feeling weak so sexual abuse to a man is the most humiliating thing in the world esp thinking it’s only you. We need to create a society where men feel safe to speak up and woman for that matter. #TraumaInformed#NotAshamed
If a child sees their parents constantly fighting then they will grow up bemused with how relationships work and will more than likely go on to repeat that behaviour. We must learn that we are the role models in the early years and we can influence their lives for the better.
Young people's behaviours are the most valuable information we have about the state of their nervous system.A nervous system soaked in cortisol and adrenaline with trauma, chaos and adversity, inbuilt into their biological system. This fuels stress and exacerbates behaviour. 🧠🌱
The Wisdom of Trauma will be rebroadcast at the end of this month, as will the "Talks On Trauma" series. Over 4 million people worldwide have watched this film so far, which speaks to the deep hunger for a trauma-informed revolution in our thinking. https://t.co/3ZjOE7vihC
