With funding from the @WorldBank, African governments established the ACE program with 81 Centers of Excellence across 50 universities in 20 African countries. These Centers have trained over 90,000 students, produced ground-breaking research, and connected thousands of students with industry through internships. They’ve also made significant strides in increasing female participation in science.
The ACE program has delivered real-life impact. From sequencing the Ebola and COVID-19 genomes to developing improved crop varieties, the program has demonstrated that Africa is not just a consumer of knowledge but a global innovator.
