Did you know 40% of mental health issues develop before 14y.o.?
@refugeelawproj is addressing mental health under the Securing Refugee Host Relations through Enhanced Protection, incorporating the most vulnerable of all: Forcibly displaced children. #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth
In his opening remarks at the 7th South-South Institute on Sexual Violence in Kampala, @pius_ojara, director @refugeelawproj expressed his appreciation to the @NLinUganda for the continued support to male survivors of #sexualviolence who have been ignored for a very long time.
Last Friday our team participated in the quarterly vitality activity.
And what better way to improve your mental health than with some delicious comfort food? 🌯
The activity: a full training in making Rolex! 🇺🇬
On 13 May 2026, @refugeelawproj conducted a National Dialogue on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support for Children in Displacement.
Theme: Positioning Children’s Mental Health at the Centre of Service Delivery and Policy Conversations. With support from @NLinUganda.
"We commend the @refugeelawproj and all partners advancing child-centred approaches within displacement governance and service delivery systems. Transformative policy begins with courageous conversations such as this one." @AcomJoy of @NLinUganda
Healing takes time, and sometimes strength means allowing yourself to rest, speak up, and seek support. No matter how difficult the season, hope remains and healing is possible.

This reality became personal when my pre-term newborn was diagnosed with malaria at just weeks old. While I am grateful for a positive outcome, many families are not as fortunate.
Now we can. Now we must. #EndMalaria#ZeroMalaria
As we mark #WorldMalariaDay, it is important to challenge the normalization of malaria in most high-burden regions in Uganda. What is often perceived as routine remains a leading, yet preventable cause of death.
Behind every program, process, or administrative decision is a human story that matters. Its usually easy to focus on delivery, timelines, and procedures but the real value of what we do comes when we put people at the center, this is what gives work meaning and impact.#Growth

Together with representatives from @NLinUganda, we visited @corsuhospital in Entebbe, an important partner in delivering medical repair services for persons affected by war-related harm. The tour offered firsthand insight into the life-changing care provided to clients.
One of the most powerful things we can do as women is open doors for other women. Mentorship, encouragement, and shared wisdom create pathways for growth and leadership. Let’s keep lifting each other as we rise.

Recently, at the UN Base in Entebbe, I joined a stakeholder workshop validating the Self-Reliance Measurement Framework for refugees & hosts. Grateful to @GenderUG, @OPM_Uganda @CRRFSecretariat & all for the insights! Ready to apply this in advancing refugee self-reliance.
After 20+ years walking beside migrants from refugee camps to consular desks I’ve learned: Policy is powerful, but compassion is what moves it. Stories, not paperwork, change systems.

Preeclampsia nearly took me. Twice.
So many women carry this trauma in silence. I’m writing a book not just for me, but for every mother who wonders if she’ll make it.
Let’s talk about maternal health. Let’s break the silence.
