🚀 Last week I experienced a #VR training for refugee youth in Nakivale, a step toward #Skilling through #VR by @ITCILO & @IloProspects!
It felt almost real, proof that tech can transform learning in refugee settings. I am excited not only as a participant, but as a changemaker💡
This is the difference between having a great idea and realising a successful and compliant business that builds self reliance and resilience! #DecentWork
A delegation from @NLinUganda witnessed firsthand how PROSPECTS is changing lives—empowering refugees and host communities in 🇺🇬 with skills, jobs, & hope. 💼
Led by @ilo, @UNHCRuganda , @UNICEFUganda , @WorldBankAfrica & @IFCAfrica , the work is driven by local partnerships.
A very important topic is being discussed by entrepreneurs, “Equipped to Thrive in a Competitive Business Market”.
I am honored to attend and contribute the base camp event organized by #PlethoraSocialInnitiative and supported by @watsoninstPH, @WesternUnionFdn and @_UnleashedUG
@Stephen__OPIO@Rotengo2@GovUganda@_AfricanUnion @EthioembassyUg @AddisUganda It is very encouraging to read from @Stephen__OPIO. I believe if the open door policy that has enabled us thrive in Uganda 🇺🇬 as @Refugees is promoted and adapted at @_AfricanUnion level, that would enable an inclusive environment for refugees and forcibly displaced persons.
💵 Exciting news!!
As we speak we do!
Ruphin Kungwa, a participant from the U-Lab, has earned his first 100,000Ugx from the data entry skill acquired with us in just 7h in his first month of study
This is one example of hundreds #digital jobs we want to create with #refugees
“It is my wish that Uganda’s example and leadership on refugees will be acknowledged by other countries as a modern day blueprint for refugees through the GRF” said the UN Resident Coordinator in Uganda today at the pre-GRF conference @SusanNamondo@OPMUganda@UNHCRuganda
@counselInno@UgandaMFA@Asiimwedw1 Because becoming a refugee isn't a choice and does not make someone less than another person, refugees should have equal rights, including access to necessary documentation and global opportunities, just like any other human being. @UNHCRuganda
@counselInno@UgandaMFA@Asiimwedw1 It's sad that I couldn't attend the event in person
Being denied a visa was a loss 4 @_UnleashedUG in terms of learning, exposure, and networking
I urge countries not to deny or limit refugees opportunities that can help them rebuild their lives, becoming a refugee isn't a choice
In the @IgadhealthS consultation, I highlighted key needs for refugee livelihood support:
1. Access to Information
2. Entrepreneurship & Business Development Services
3. Access to Markets & Value Chains
4. Access to Capital
5. Peace in Their Homelands
6. Social cohesion program
Day 2 of the #Uganda Nat'l Consultation Meeting on the #IGADKampalaDeclaration starts with a panel discussion on "business case to invest on refugees in 🇺🇬" by:
@MafigiVictor, a refugee representative from Nakivale Refugee Settlement-South West Uganda running @_UnleashedUG ...
📢 Refugee Leaders Speak Up! Promoting Meaningful Youth Engagement
But why is it crucial for youth to ✋ raise voices?
1️⃣To secure a space 4 contributing to sustainable development across generations
2️⃣To involve in the decision-making of what affects their lives
3️⃣To b empowered
💡💡💡I had a privilege to meet the ambassador of #Eritrea 🇪🇷 to Uganda who called the African people to invest more in building resilience and avoid depending on outside support to solve the African problems as he shared how his country is already acting toward that.
