@acps_nurses @meagan_alderton With RNs in every @ACPSk12 building, we would be well-positioned for this program. How can we make this happen?

Each test cost $4,300. Funding comes from $2 M of FFX county pandemic relief money. How can we make this happen in @ACPSk12@justindotnet

@justindotnet The SRO discussion was a disaster. Dominated by uninformed & unprepared CC members, especially @MoSeifeldein. What kind of precedent is set when
@AlexandriaVAGov CC overrides what @ACPSk12 admins & School Board thinks is best 4 its students/staff? Do better, @AlexandriaVAGov.
.
The gamble school board took in expanding in-person instruction w/o adequate ventilation & routine screening testing is not paying off. In only 1st week of expanded in-person instruction, we saw cases amongst students on campus rise by 72% & quarantines explode by 277%! (3/3)
My kids attend @ACPSk12. Our Superintendent @DrHutchings is adamant that we don’t have a ventilation problem. The facts say otherwise. We can reopen safely. We need science-based action and accountability for a #smartrestart. @AcpsFor@justindotnet

Let this sink in—wealthy sports franchise, NHL @Canucks:
—Had >50% of its team #COVID19 sickened
—Many decimated “very ill”
—Despite strict workplace protocols
—Despite big PPE budget
—Despite daily testing
➡️The #P1 variant is just that badass.🧵

@HeidiNBC @POTUS Thank you for your work on this issue. Many @ACPSk12 buildings also have inadequate ventilation but there are no plans to address the problem. @chrispyke
It would be really helpful--and responsible--for @ACPSk12 to be transparent about how many outdoor air changes/hour are actually occurring in our school buildings instead of gaslighting families. #TransparencyMatters
Here are @Don_Milton's top five for K-12 schools, following the hierarchy of controls:
1. Ventilation & filtration >4 air changes per hour & 10 L/s/person
2. Contact tracing, quarantine, isolation
3. Meals outdoors
4. Masks and respirators
5. Handwashing & respiratory etiquette
@ABC7Kellye @ACPSk12 You should also be asking @ACPSk12 about poor school ventilation (especially worrisome as most students eat lunch indoors), no COVID dashboard and no windows open on school buses....
1/ Airborne transmission, and the 3 feet vs. 6 feet question: A 🧵 with links for policy advocates trying to sort through the science...
WARNING: Nuance Ahead
@ACPSk12 Please read this thread about ventilation since we are being told that "ventilation is not a problem" at our schools, even though we have antiquated HVACs and almost no HEPA filters in classrooms. #COVIDisSpreadThroughTheAirWeShare
Agree-also, wearing properly fitted masks becomes even more critical when 6 ft goes to 3 ft. Also, HEPA filters key to reducing risk of close inhalation of aerosols. Ventilation will help with far field exposure but will not help if you are too close to an infected individual.
"The seven-day average in new cases has ticked up throughout VA, but there have been especially large increases in five localities....& the city of Alexandria."
And still no @ACPSk12 COVID dashboard for transparency.....@AlexandriaNow@AlexTimesNews @HeidiNBC @AlexGazette
@AlexGazette@AlexandriaNow Week 3 of hybrid school at @ACPSk12 and still no COVID dashboard to provide transparency for families & staff. What gives?
"Multi-layered mitigations can substantially reduce the risk of transmission within schools and into households."
"Making schools safer goes hand in hand with reducing community transmission and is essential to allow schools to safely reopen and remain open."
