@tanita_tikaram I did like the bit where he said "this might sound ridiculous" when referring to his plan to have a floating wall in the sea with holes in to allow ships through, but also mines to blow up dinghies.
@eToro_EdWhite1@cleanupbritain Councils will provide wheelie bins wherever they can as they're much cheaper to collect than bags. Wheelie bins could be bigger, but then landfill costs Β£130 per ton. Most fly tips are 'small van loads' dumped by people who charge for collection, then just fly tip.
@eToro_EdWhite1@cleanupbritain Without changing the description of the offence, I can't see that working. It would be seen as unjust for small offences, and the average fly tipper from a van doesn't have Β£20k lying around. Large scale fly tippers linked to huge offences can already get harsher sentences.
@eToro_EdWhite1@cleanupbritain It's a very broad offence - everything from dumping a bin bag to dumping 100s of tonnes. Typical fine = a few hundred pounds.
@cleanupbritain The current consequences on indictment are an unlimited fine, up to five years in prison, and vehicles involved with fly tipping can be seized. Most cases are dealt with in magistrates courts (or with fpn), so typically a few hundred pounds fine, plus costs.
@msloobylou@surreyspinster There's no line that says'I am miserable old git who lives life as if an extra in a really tedious soap opera'. Therefore I cannot complete the survey.
@SpiritualGnu@HistoryGirlBW Clayton and Bradford are places in North Manchester. Not sure I can place the Mancunian Bradford, but I used to live in Clayton about a thousand years ago. Well, forty years ago.
@DS9239055554517@TonyJuniper Is this a roundabout way of supporting game shooting? Curlews were mentioned in a post I saw about that. The hotspots for hen harrier disappearances are over grouse moors, too. Would you support the legalisation of shooting hen harriers?
