@sarah_go_green Octopus says it can remove you from Intelligent Octopus Go if it becomes aware you’ve joined such a third-party scheme. https://t.co/t9Vh87xOs9
@sarah_go_green I would avoid signing up to Axel if you’re an IOG customer - I believe the latter’s Ts & Cs require exclusive management of demand response on your grid connection. HA + Predbat is amazing once setup.
@sarah_go_green You give them exclusive rights to enter Demand Response Services contracts for your low-carbon technology, and you must not enter your premises into any third-party scheme that enters you into a Demand Response Service.
Whilst rises are painful and we work very hard to avoid them (you can look back and see very few over the years on these tariffs) - these tariffs are still very cheap - typical users on this tariff will have a blended rate of around 18.3p/kWh - around 20% below the price cap, and the more they charge their car the bigger the saving.
You don't need to buy a charger from us, etc.
The points about timing are well taken. In terms of "reviewed every 3 months" - although the price was changed less than 3 months ago - that was simply passing through the govt cut, in full. We haven't changed the price ourselves for 4 months (Go) and longer (IOgo)- and in terms of notice period Ofgem removed the 30 days (we assume because it sometimes caused people to leave good value tariffs). We aim for about 2 weeks - slightly less this time as we didn't want to email over the weekend when there'd be less support available.
And perspective is important - an EV on these tariffs is about 5-8 times cheaper per mile than a petrol car, despite the fact the UK has such high electricity prices.
Was asked to speak on a BBC Radio 4 show today about the upsurge in EVs since Iran war. But barely had a chance to talk, just asked how many cars we sell. What for? I was there to explain statistical change in demand plus how an EV can cost just £80 for 10,000 miles home charging
@simoncgallagher@OctopusEnergy@g__j One very short-term solution if you’re still in this bind is to temporarily disable smart charging in the vehicle’s settings, within the octopus app. I may have need to resort to this once in almost four years of Intelligent Octopus Go.
@OctopusElectro Is there any chance of adding a @Fastned subscription through Electroverse? Despite them advertising one, it’s not actually available in the UK, as they have no payment provider here. Cheers!
@HannahEDaly What does the new home battery setup look like? Just under 20kWh should work wonders for home use. Do you know what charge/discharge rate you’ll get from it in kW?
@iammark40@MartinSLewis We fill our house batteries during the cheap rate, and then sell back what we didn’t use the following evening, for twice the price.
@CivicLilly1@janrosenow You’re welcome. I think one of the systems is called GSE, and the other is Veridian. It also means you won’t need bird mesh protection to keep the birds out.
@KateFantom We replaced our petrol lawnmower with a 36V Stanley model a couple of years ago, and it’s brilliant. Even better that the batteries are usually charged with #solar power.
@CivicLilly1@janrosenow At that point, you would be better replacing the tiles with an in-roof solar panel system, with tiles around the panels. It’s been often said this is cheaper than the cost of replacing the existing tiles, and looks quite smart.
@philcarr7@MartinSLewis Of course you can’t - email addresses are based on a domain name, which can only be owned/operated by one company at a time. Don’t use an email address provided by your ISP, or you’re stuck with them.
