The worst subscription I ever paid for in my life was @TheAthletic
Itโs literally an app with gossip and stolen tweets, with no real journalism.
Donโt waste the money.
๐๐ฝ Great to have @willquince visit HAF projects in #StokeonTrent.
๐ถ This morning we paddled canoes at @StanleyHeadOEC & learnt about outdoor education with students from #Longton.
๐ #Proud of the work we do with @HUBBFoundation_ to improve outcomes for children & young ppl.
Bit of a slap in the face when opposing teams are happy fielding washed up pop stars against #wccc. Seems to be holding his own though ๐

First #vaccine received today, excellent service from #NHS - fast, efficient and friendly, and a great set up @burslemcricketclub. Thanks to everyone involved!
Morning! If you're following this account for Outdoor Ed updates (Stoke Schools), please find these on the new @VisitsEd. If I have any followers left it'll probably just be me ranting about the cricket, maybe a nice nature pic and the odd random (aka pointless) thought/opinion.
@saveoutdoored@GavinWilliamson We've shown how residentials and day visits can be run as controlled & safely as schools, with isolated school bubbles. @GavinWilliamson now need an urgent decision for overnights from 17 May & day visits from end of March. Pupils need it, centres need it. @educationgovuk
Not long now until kids cricket can start, how they've missed the friendships, physical activity and competition for so long. Looking forward to visiting some more great grounds like @OakamoorCC this season!

This sums up the shit state of football currently. Naughty but harmless #Savic elbow, horrendous play acting by #rudiger but if he hadn't then no foul let alone red card. I hate diving/acting but who can blame them?

Day 363 of 'not normal' and we've been addressing skill-fade ready for welcoming groups back. Today has been addressing vertical cave skills for groups with the excellent Phil Baker. All ready to go now, just need clients!

Excellent graphic to remind those that need reminding why school residentials need to restart ASAP.
Perhaps though it could benefit from being more explicit about the direct impact that well run trips have on cross-curriculum delivery.

There are lots of community testing venues across #StokeonTrent open 7 days a week and all with plenty of spaces to test you!
๐You could have the virus and not know it, so get a weekly test today for peace of mind. Do it for what matters.

@onlyonejhenry@timfarron Agree, no one's disagreeing good sir, I was just offering an alternative perspective from the teachers I've been talking to regarding appetite to resume trips . Not qualified to comment on your primary point about teacher involvement in decisions which I'm sure is valid.
Extremely disappointing from the DfE - still advising schools against outdoor education visits & no date for when this will change.
If education really is a priority for Government then why is there a reopening date for nightclubs but not for school visits to outdoor ed centres?
@onlyonejhenry@timfarron All the teachers I have spoken to recently - which is a lot - cannot wait to get their class on their residential. They understand the massive impact it has on their pupils development. But no one's being forced to go even if centres can reopen, as far as I'm aware.
Losing a loved one is never easy, but the pandemic has made it more challenging.
@PrimroseHospice has seen a rise in the number of young people seeking support.
@TobySadler has been speaking to four children who have suffered a bereavement to find out what helped them cope.
