@seeMOUSErun Itโs the longing for something to be as good or better than it once was, and watching it slowly drift further from that benchmark.
They are not rooting against the store, itโs just that quality has undeniably dropped. They want and know it can be better, because it was.
@ehikian@anammostarac Isnโt that the opposite of Elonโs Twitter?
Restricted links, suppressed search results, rate limits, etc.
Doesnโt seem very โfree speechโ to me.
@CubicleApril Iโd disagree, makes users less accountable for their actions. Actions which can amplify harmful content.
Itโs also useful for vetting accounts before following since their liked content will inevitably appear on your timeline.
@wildpiss@wongmjane You are right, thatโs why Iโm in full favor of not amplifying anything done by private accounts. Like and Reply count on Tweets should not increase from Likes and Replies from private accounts either.
@deadplant01@wongmjane People are more intentional about what they Tweet, and thatโs a good thing. But, it makes for a fairly weak heuristic for if I would want to follow someone.
If anything likes should be more visible rather than less.
@wildpiss@wongmjane Thatโs the problem, it hides accountability and increases likelihood of abuse. Itโs a bad thing to hide and only bad actors really have a valid reason to hide it.
@deadplant01@wongmjane I love the feature. I use it to vet toxic accounts before following them because their likes will inevitably make their way to my home timeline.
