@FredFredSanders Owen was the main figure behind it. Scuppered largely thanks to Baxter's opposition in the Parliamentary committee which meant it never had time to be passed as the national confession for the Cromwellian Protectorate.

What Davenant did with the Synopsis Purioris Theologiae was really good. Taking a book which had already received an edition in a scholarly press, furthering historical and Christian scholarship, and then re-orienting it for a churchly-market.
