As a person who has made professional art for over 30 years, let me tell you some hilarious shit.
- I remember when artists freaked the fuck out when photoshop and digitizers came out. Digital art was going to ruin jobs for artists. (It didnt)
- I was there when artists freaked the fuck out when video games made the transition from 2D games to 3D games because making 3D art, was going to ruin "art" in video games and making 3D art wasn't "real" art. (It didnt ruin art and it is real art) **Literally knew people personally that quit making games because they hated the transition to 3D.
The thing with "real" artists, is that artists adapt and make art, regardless of the medium and typically don't give two flying shits about what "other" artists are doing because you should be busy just being you and creating what your heart tells you.
Be it on Canvas
Digital 2D/3D
Side of a building
Macaroni Art
Sculpting
Music
Dance
Sports
... or whatever the NEW thing is that comes along every couple of years or so.
If you create - you are an artist. Period.
You do you, whatever that is and let your soul be happy.
Its nobody else's business what that is. The cool thing about art in any form is that its subjective and if you dont like it - don't participate. There is lots of bad art. Lots of great art and everything inbetween.
Don't like peas, don't eat peas. Easy. No one needs to hear about how much you hate peas. That's your problem.
Ppl are saying there’s no way he built it but it’s really not hard to imagine someone whose job it is to be meticulously obsessed with every detail of a 100-page NFL playbook unwinding by going home and being meticulously obsessed with something incredibly stupid like this.
Long-term collectors now facing the difficult reality of selling their rare cards for life changing money knowing they will never own/see them again.
A lot of these cards will be gone forever. The people buying them don’t care if the market drops. This is chump change to them.
Over the last six years, I’ve watched people in CT completely lose their mind. Like full on brain’s cooked, desperately need therapy type stuff. It’s sad to watch. But also mildly entertaining? I should prob feel more guilty about enjoying the show but it’s really good show.
@SteveKBark@veefriends@Annebagg Almost impossible to dislike the guy. The only founder left who makes me wanna spend $3000 on a community NFT bc I feel like I'm actually mising out.
Gotta admit this trading card run has gone on a lot longer than I expected but starting to see big card collectors essentially calling this a super cycle and their cardboard a veblen good and woooooo boy ok Icarus 😳
@sircalebhammer Not sure how you looked at that face and showed concern that it wouldn't be in the kids life for the first 4 years when I would've simply suggested longer.
@signulll I believe ppl like @LeBatardShow have argued this since before AI was a thing, that an MLB manager should just be a guy on a laptop. Baseball prob has the most data points with the fewest variables.
Although I do enjoy watching old men in pinstriped pajamas trusting their gut.
“Eyes on the prize” really is the best life advice in general, not just investing. The algos make it harder than ever, but making a concerted effort to tune out the noise will change your life in ways you didn’t believe possible.
Periodic reminder to not get triggered by the legendary s-tier race bait the algo serves you daily
You’re here to retire yourself & your family through investing, not pivot into being an npc for some entity trying to engineer your radicalization through highly provocative posts
Watched the PSA 9 Cosmic Spider-Man sit in the $300 range for a few months before teleporting to $1,200. Been pulling back over the last few weeks and consolidating in the $800-1,000 range.
Still only 347 in existence.

Every time someone unironically says “the market will regulate itself” I want them to go walk around a grocery store for 20 minutes because what in the actual hell are we doing??????
We have MrBeast Feastables x Liquid Death PEANUT BUTTER CUP SODA flavored sparkling water. Like read that sentence again.
And obviously this is funny but I actually think there’s something deeper here. We have somehow created an economy where everything has to become content. Every brand needs a collab. Every food needs 50 flavors. Everything is limited edition. Everything needs an influencer attached to it. Everything needs to be engineered to get you to stop scrolling for 3 seconds and say wait WHAT is that???
We act like consumers are sitting there making these perfectly rational choices and the market is just innocently responding to demand lol. These companies spend so much money figuring out how to manufacture the demand in the first place. The packaging, the nostalgia, the dopamine hit, the influencer, the algorithm, the placement in the store, the artificial scarcity, the flavor engineered to make you want another one. None of this is accidental.
I’m very pro capitalism but I think pretending capitalism has some magical built in mechanism that always pushes markets toward better outcomes is ridiculous. The market doesn’t care if the outcome is good. It cares if the outcome sells. And apparently right now what sells is taking chocolate candy, turning the flavor into soda water, putting the name of the biggest YouTuber on it and selling it under a brand called Liquid Death.
Maybe the free market IS regulating itself perfectly. Maybe our brains are just so smooth at this point that we’ll work all day for our hard earned money and then voluntarily spend it on MrBeast peanut butter cup flavored Liquid Death instead of just drinking water, while every organ in our body is screaming “PLEASE JUST GIVE ME WATER.” Maybe the market isn’t broken. Maybe we are.
@CardsMax It’s not entirely wrong. A lot of digital gachas have popped up over the last few years, and there have been concerns over whether some even have the card you’ve pulled. Crypto ppl lean skeptic bc they’ve seen how centralized control of seemingly fine things can deteriorate.
@jbillinson That’s… that’s not how advertising works. Do you think companies pay millions of dollars for Super Bowl ads bc they think consumers are gonna immediately go buy chips in the second quarter?
